Just installed PF3, have no sound in several areas.
ATIS works fine, and shows text in Comm window.
VCP speaks only when taxiing.
ATC and 'you' do not speak; however text is present in Comm window.

Also, now the default MSFS does not have sound as above.

Thanks for your help!
Bob

Hi Rob,

Not much in that particular log to go on unfortunately.

Here are a few things to try to correct the problem you are experiencing:-

1. Run PF3_Register

Go to your main PF3 folder and right-click on the file named PF3_Register.exe, then select 'Run as Administrator.' Wait 15-20 seconds. You won't see any messages during this time. Now try PF3 again

If this didn't help please continue with the step 2...

2. Missing DirectX runtime files

You may have some system DirectX files missing so we would suggest the following.

Download the Microsoft DirectX for Managed Code Runtimes, using the following link:-

http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/downloads/ ... ntimes.zip

Once downloaded you need to unzip the content into a temporary folder, this can be anywhere on your system. Then run the file named directx_apr2006_redist.exe. You will be prompted for a location to copy the extracted files into, so you could just choose the same temp folder.

Once that's done go into the temp folder and right-click the 'DXSetup.exe' program, select 'Run as Administrator' and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the runtimes.

This will NOT alter any of your currently installed DirectX files but merely installs any missing runtimes in parallel with any existing DirectX files

Once the DirectX Runtimes are installed please try running PF3 again and connecting to FS and let me know what happens. You can also delete the downloaded runtimes and temp folder if you wish

If this didn't help please report back and zip and attach ALL the log files in your PF3/Logs folder

Hi Mr. March,
I did both of your suggestions as in email above, with no improvement.

There is some garbled short messages sounded out from ground or clearance,
but no sound from pilot or VCP. I do have 'voices' set to zero when using PF3.

I also did a repair on FS2020 from the Steam website, but it did not help that program either.

It might be better to uninstall/reinstall both programs if an obvious error does not show up.
Maybe the attached logs have the answer?
Thank you for your help!
Bob

So, if you're not hearing any sound it has to be something to do with your sound configuration. Do you maybe have the volume from MSFS turned up too loud and it's drowning our PF3?

As I say, according to the log there are no issues at all and everything is working as it should

Hello, I now have sound with default ATC.
I uninstalled/reinstalled PF3, but re-activation is locked for 30 days.
This notice came up the 2nd time I tried to activate.
The activation code I have is:

The log folder is empty - no Debug_Monitor.log is available.
Can this be activated on your end?
Thanks for your help!
Bob

I've reset your PF3 account but in future please don't post your activation code on a public forum. Always email me direct with activation issues

From our FAQ's

Q28: Just lately my co-pilot and ATC voices sound ok to start with but then the voice volumes get very soft and almost inaudible.
A: This is possibly Windows thinking that the ATC voices are some sort of telephony. A possible solution is to right-click on the speaker icon in the tray, click on Sounds, select the "Communications" tab and change "When Windows detects communications activity:" from "Reduce the volume ..." to "Do nothing".

Have you tried this?
