Please try the latest beta John.
Hi Dave,

There seems to be a TGS problem with v3.22.16, unless I've accidentally changed a setting somewhere. This was on a simple Gate to Gate test flight, I have yet to try the switch to Cargo parking feature.
  • Both on departure and arrival at destination, I get instructions to "taxi to xxx" but no advice of "via taxiway xxx"
  • Unable to confirm the above as the Recent ATC Communication Log window was blank for entire flight
  • The TGS gauge was not showing any indication of route
  • The TGS Display window was not showing any indication of route
  • My First Officer gave no verbal guidance
(Yes, I know I ended up at Gate 10 instead of 9).

I expect the log will tell you this but all boxes under Taxi Guidance System in Options #1 are checked apart from "Use HDG Bug". This is my normal configuration.

Sorry to throw more work at you. I'll revert to the previous version for now.

Best regards,

John

PS - trivial point you may want to correct - in the BetaReadme.txt you refer to the wrong version numbers

I spotted this problem late yesterday afternoon and confirmed the fix late evening - hopefully Dave will upload 3.22.18 (or later) soon.
It was down to a change I made in the taxi routing code that didn't get transferred cleanly into the main PF3 build - sorry

Martin

No problem, I feel I am asking a lot. Happy to wait for a convenient moment.

Absolutely not - Dave uploaded it earlier today, so please give it a spin. :)

OK, have done two more tests:

1 TERMINATING AT A GATE
  1. Taxi guidance now working except still no advice on arrival at gate (I'm sure one used to get "right to gate" or similar rather than the guidance instructions just running out).
  2. The Recent ATC Communication Log window was again blank for the entire flight
2 TERMINATING AT CARGO
  1. Was taken to a GA Parking Medium rather than Cargo - there were 8 cargo positions at this airport, only one was occupied. Not sure if final instruction would be "gate" in this situation but instructions ran out again as per test 1 above.
  2. The Recent ATC Communication Log window worked this time!
Log attached for the second of the above.

Best regards,

John

My 'guess' is you're running a flight then changing the TGS gate type and starting another flight without restarting PF3. NOt really recommended and whilst I could code around it I still wouldn't recommend you doing consecutive flights without restarting PF3

No, I never do that.
  1. Start FS
  2. Start weather (FS Global)
  3. Plan route
  4. Start PF3
  5. In PF3, check Sids & Stars settings for runway settings
  6. In PF3, options 1, set airline call sign and flight number, set desired gate type
  7. In PF3, load flight plan
  8. Connect PF3
  9. Configure and connect FDC
  10. FLY
I shut down everything afterwards, I never desire to do another flight straight after. Too many chores await. :(

I developed a workaround for the Parking alternatives two versions back, which might still work (need to do more flights to check that). This was to complete to 8 above and then disconnect, shut down, and restart PF3, after which I would be always taken to the right place. Did the same when changing back to Gate. Maybe this would still work, but there aren't enough hours in the day at the moment to test every permutation.

I can't figure out why it took me to GA parking, though, previously it would have taken me to Gate in these circumstances, so I'm sure you are on the right track.

I'm on FS2004, I'm guessing it works perfectly on other versions of FS or others would be saying the same. I don't suppose you have too many FS2004 luddites?

John

Today I have repeated the same flight - taken to correct parking this time, Recent ATC Communication Log displaying correctly, verbal guidance OK, in fact everything perfect except TGS gauge did not display route to Cargo parking. I'm not going to bore you with yet another log unless you want one.

Are you thinking my computer simply doesn't have the resources to do everything?

John
