I know I should have learned my lesson about VFR flights with PF3-ATC. However, I tried again and all was going well until, with no prompting from me I got the weather message going round and round in a loop.

It was really getting on my nerves so I tried to shut PF3 down but when I thought I had, it just kept going on and on. It did finally close and i was able to continue my flight. But what a performance!

What is "the weather messaging" exactly? If it continues after you shut down PF3, I assume it is one of Active Sky's weather services on 122.something.

No Thomas. I get it every time I start a flight with PF3. It tells me wind strength and direction, the runway/s in use for ILS or VFR etc.

I didn't think it was anything to do with Active Sky as I only ever get it when I'm on to PF3 and when I turn PF3 off it stops...........err. when it stops. I had the devil's own treat turning PF3 off with this flight.

Do you mean ATIS ? Once you have listened to the ATIS broadcast tune you radio to a different frequency.

Does it speak the airport name (e.g. "Bismarck Municipal Airport Information", what PF3 does) or spell it (e.g. "Kilo Bravo India Sierra", what Active Sky does)?

If it happens again, can you note the exact time and frequency, and attach the log?

Youve got it Peter. Yes, Atis.

Oh, and Thomas, I did add the log to my original post.

PS - And, for some reason I've stopped getting notified of replies...again!

Just to add to this...if you do not turn down the ATC sound to 0 in your sim settings when using PF3, not only will you hear the sim's own ATC talking to other aircraft, but you will hear their ATIS too.

I saw the log, the important part of my question was "note the exact time and frequency". I could see that you received ATIS information from PF3, but I could also see that it just for a short time, so just as expected.

Works fine here ... maybe two mail servers not liking each other?

Ah, yes, that could it be, too. I have turned that off such a long time ago that I did not remember :)

I don't know where to do it in P3D's GUI or config file, but for FSX I have recorded the following changes in fsx.CFG:
SOUND_FADER4=0.000000
ShowATCText=0
(the first is for the spoken voice, the second for the scrolling text in the first line)

As for turning the sound off/down in FSX that's done within FSX not PF3. Also if you are using a weather engine that produces a vocal ATIS that needs to be tuened down/off too.

In his case: P3D (I sometimes confuse P3D and PF3, too)
