I can't seem to prevent engine startup callouts in the PMDG 747. I have gone into the FDC options window, then 'Select Aircraft' - choose the PMDG 747; then I make sure the box 'Skip Engine Startup Calls' is checked (or uncheck and recheck it) and 'save changes'. I then save the profile and load it into FDC.

When the 747 is on the apron (cold & dark) I connect FDC and run the appropriate callouts, and after the 'Before Startup' callouts, I start the engines one by one. The 747 itself is fine, but FDC just keeps repeating the same 'Start No3' (or whichever I have chosen) over and over. In the profile file I saved, the line for startup is like this:

SkipEngineStartup=1

which I would guess is what it should be. Other than not use FDC for the PMDG 747 I don't know what to do. I am not expecting to get good engine startup callouts for this a/c (though that would be nice if anyone knows a way), I just want to stop this callout loop - i.e. have no startup callouts at all for engines.

Can anyone please help? I have re-read this:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=682&p=3764&hilit=+p ... tart#p3764

but would like to try stopping all engine startup callouts if I can.. I don't see why the checkbox doesn't seem to work.

Thanks,

Martin

I usually do the CTRL+E method when starting engines in FSX it stops the looping calls of "start number 1 etc" or try turning the rotary back to off when you start.
This unfortunately seems to be a problem with Leveld and PMDG in FSX..but not in FS2004,so it's down to the coding of the aircraft i'm afraid....

No idea why I still get engine callouts with FS9 PMDG 747, even though this si selected as off in the FDC interface (and in the pro files too)?

Which 'rotary' do you mean Dave? I press an engine start switch on the overhead, then after a little open the fuel cutoff on the throttle panel. Same for the other three engines. Can't see a 'rotary' as such..

Hi Dave. I have 12 seconds set: I tried 10, but no difference. So I redid my .pro files from scratch and then the engine callouts stopped, though I can see no difference between the old ones and the new ones when I open them with a text editor.

Then a day later, flying a PMDG 747 again, back to callouts, though SkipEngineStartup is still set to 1. Tried again through the FDC interface and again, for now at least, engine startup callouts have been stopped. Not sure for how long though!
