Hi guys, great program, really adds a new dimension to FS!

A few questions though -

- if the airport you are leaving from has no clearance frequency then on first contact the VCP asks for push and start as opposed to the clearance, is that right? It sounds weird as ground give the clearance and then tell the VCP to call ground for push and start, which he's already asked for.

- often I don't get handed off to tower at the runway holding point - not a problem I can tune myself and ask for dep clearance but if there are two tower frequencies as at very big airports which one shall I use?

- the TGS is a great add on but often he wants me to go the wrong way - at EGGP for a 27 departure you turn left on taxiway Alpha from the ramp and go all the way to the end, he wanted me to turn right, which would take me to the end of 09?

-for a SID, if say out of Liverpool you're a WAL2T sid then you have to overfly WAL at 2500 or above and climb to 4000. In a 737 you'd be at 4000 well before WAL as it's only a few miles from the airport. If I want to get a higher alt clearance as soon as I reach 4000 then I just put 4000 in the alt comp box in the SIDS/STARS options for the given airport, is that right?

-If I'm kept on departure he bugs me to keep to 250 knots, even though I'm above FL100?

-one more guys - really short flights. I tried to set up a Liverpool - Isle of Man flight and despite the FS flight plan having about 5 waypoints PFE dropped them all, only giving me the departure and arrival airports and no altitudes. If I tried to fly this - would I just get vectors all the way?

Lots of questions guys - thanks in advance.

Yes, that will work if you are using the SID option. You also need to make sure your flight plan (the one in PFE) has a higher alt for waypoint WAL.

Thanks for the reply. My QNH is set to 1013 as I've been cleared to a FL at this point. The SID question is cleared up ta. Can anyone help with the issue of all the waypoints being dropped for really short legs?

Hi,

there is a limit to the distance between waypoints :

PFE drops waypoints to close to each other, but can't remember the distance (guess 15 miles)

It's actually PF2000 that drops the waypoints. There are three settings in the pf2000.cfg file for distance from departure and destination airports plus distance between each waypoint. Can't remember off the top of my head but I think the defaults are 5,10 and 5 respectfully.
If you decide to change any of these you do so at your own risk because I have never tested what happens of you do so. ;-)

You need to be within 700' of the active runway for an auto hand off

As a matter of interest what does happen if you follow TGS. Remember, PFE knows nothing about real life airport practices and works only with Lat/Lon data and runway/taxiway links, etc.

Have you changed the actual FL in PF 2000 or added a Transition Altitude in PFE on the SIDs and STARs page?
