When I go to the 'hotkey options' menu and press the 'reset defaults' button, PFE crashes with the message 'Runtime error 381 Invalid property array index'.

What version of pfe are you using? If it's 2.14 you have a dodgy installation.

I have version 2.14

Another observation: My 'say again' function is assigned to 'CTRL SHIFT +'. However, in the 'commands.htm' it is shown as assigned to 'CTRL SHIFT ='. Now, it is not possible to redefine 'say again' to 'CTRL SHIFT ='. I have tried to do so with different region settings (English and German).

Can this really be related to installation?

Well michael I really don't know what else it could be. That functionality must certainly works and hasn't been changed for a long, long time. PFE utilises a lot of third party activeX controls and if one our more of them have not been registered correctly during installation out could cause such issues.

On an English keyboard, the + and = keys are one and the same. Perhaps you are looking at the "extended" (numeric) keys?

I get the same.

I've just installed from the v1.84 disc into a folder away from c:\program files as advised for Win7 64-bit users, and running that version and pressing the 'reset defaults' button didn't give that error.

I then updated to v2.14, I had to do it manually as the update check said v1.84 was the latest, and now pressing the 'reset defaults' button does give the error.

For both the original install and the update my anti-virus, Microsoft Security Essentials, was turned off.

Are you sure the update to 2.14 worked? What is the version number shown on the main pfe screen?

I think the best thing to do is to reinstall the cumulative updates. Please ensure you turn off all other programs when doing so, especially your anti virus and any other security type programs
