Hi All

Hope someone can help, I installed FDC live cockpit 2010 V 3.14 installed ok but I’m getting an error message when connecting to FSX.
(Error 429 Activex components can’t create object in setup direct sound routine)

I’ve installed it in

C:/Aerosoft

and run it as administrator, also tried it in compatibility mode still no joy. I have installed and uninstalled several times and even downloaded the program again and tried that.

Dose anyone have a solution to this? It seems that some people have had this problem on the forum but can’t fined anyone who has solved it

John

Hi,
uninstall it it and install on another drive, not the default setup of C:\Program files etc,

I have FDC and PFE installed onto another partition of around 20-30 gigs in size and called oncourse-software with a lable of (E)

Try that and let us know how you get on...

What OS are you using?

Hi John,

Unfortunately some users have experienced such an issue and there are a couple of things you can try

First:-

1. Right-click on the FDC shortcut and select Properties

2. On the tab labelled Shortcut, click on the button labelled Advanced

3. Tick box labelled Run as administrator and then click on the OK button.

4. When prompted by the system, click ok to confirm.

5. Select tab labelled Compatibility

6. Tick the box next to run this program as administrator then click on the button labelled Apply

7. Finally, I click on OK to exit.

If that doesn't work please try the following:-

In the main FDC installation folder you should see two applications named PFE_V312_System.exe and Sysinfo_inst.exe

Run both of these applications

Other important things we always tells users when installing on Vista and/or Win 7:-

(a) Turn UAC off.
(b) Log on with Admin rights
(c) NEVER install into the Program Files folder because the OS will prevent some files being updated
(d) Stop all other programs during the installation, especially virus checkers and any other security type programs

Hi all thanks for the quick response,

I tried most if not all of your suggestions yesterday before posting but still wouldn’t work, reading through the forum I came across someone’s comment regarding the version not reporting correctly.

The version I have is 3.14 and if I ask it to auto update it comes back with no updates needed for this version 3.14.

I downloaded the update and manually updated and it now works fine without having to be installed onto another drive, without having to tick administrator and so on.

If the download version was not up to date it shouldn’t have caused this problem really, I can only assume that it must have been sent out with a corrupted file or two and the manual update seems to have put this right.

So to sum up I think that I’m ok now, however its early days yet and I now need to get my head around how it all works. Thanks again for the support and I will no doubt need help again in the future

Regards, John

Ridiculous!

The only item there of any use is to reregister the offending file, which a lot of users may find difficult to do, which is why I always suggest a reinstall.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S
