Hi. Can I ask ATC for a straight in approach if I'm not in the mood for the long way?

Yes you could use Hotkey #1 when tuned to Approach to "Request Cleared To Final At Pilot's Discretion", in which case you can fly direct to the FAF

I don't know if my memory is getting worse as I get older...
...I just can't remember how it used to be!

Just to add that when you request clearance at pilot's discretion, as Dave mentioned, you will be cleared for approach at your discretion (without vectors) to the runway PF3 has already assigned. This will allow you to make a more direct approach but you are still expected to land on the assigned runway. If you want to land on a different runway, request a runway change in the usual way (Ctrl+Shft+W key sequence after a runway has been assigned).

i felt it is too late if we wait for the ATC to assigned us, than we request different runway. in the real life, ATC will inform us "expected runway approach" before we reach TOD.
