Hello everyone,
I'm new to PF3 and use it in conjunction with Flight Simulator addon Its your Plane.
Now that I've read on a thread that there are hotkeys for turning on base, etc... does CP mode 2 do all this for me?
I keep it on mode 2 because Its your Plane handles the piloting for me via voice. The thing that I have trouble with PF3 is capturing the glideslope. Being a blind FS pilot, Its your Plane helps me with landing, and it starts the descent when the glideslope is captured. Is there a way to have PF3 have me descend to a proper altitude to capture it? Lately on ILS approaches, it makes me descend to 3,500 or sometimes 3000 feet. It will then vector me until it eventually clears me for the ILS runway, but my Its your Plane program advises me to do the approach checklist before that happens. So that PF3 doesn't keep nagging me to maintain X heading or altitude, I wait until they clear me for the runway.
Once they clear me landing at KDTW, for example, I descend to 2500 and do my approach checklist in Its your Plane. If I were to stay at the altitude that PF3 provides, I'd miss the glideslope and Its your Plane will just continue on the current heading thinking I'm still on approach.
Also, I change planes quite a bit. How do I tell PF3 that with the current plan I'm flying that I'm flying a jet, prop, etc? I've made several presets, but when I flew from KSFO to EGGL once, PF3 didn't tell me to resume on navigation like it normally does. Instead, it made me fly the takeoff heading it designated, and I waited for that announcement, and it came after I resumed on navigation anyway after it told me I was x miles off the airway.
Once I resumed on navigation, it then vectored me back onto the airway and then told me to resume on navigation.
Thanks for the help all, just trying to get some consistency with my flights in PF3. Microsoft ATC gets me down to 2000 feet at least to capture the glideslope, but it has its own problems in high traffic, and I can't be there for long flights.
I'm mainly just having issues with approach here. Hell, PF3 even contacts the tower when it's supposed to and ATC clears me to land, but the glideslope isn't captured.
I've also been talking to the Its your Plane developer about this, and he said that, apparently, giving the assigned runway on approach is unrealistic and that we should get it when navigating off of GPS. He's a retired pilot...
Thanks for reading all, and perhaps I'm missing something that CP mode 2 isn't doing on approach.
