fsx wouldnt let me create an IFR flight plan from BGBW to CYQX so I had to choose VFR but made the plan altitude 20000
now PF3 thinks it is an IFR plan, constantly keeps asking every 15 minute for me to change to 18000 IFR level

should I just make the plan at VFR height and it wont do it?

Over a certain altitude, you have to be IFR. You can change that in control center altitudes in Options 2, but over 18,000 feet is totally unrealistic. Why not just file IFR?

That's not PF3's problem is it? Having said that you are flying an off airways route. FSX will certainly give you a direct route from BGBW to CYQX. If FSX doesn't have any intervening waypoints which it should as even FS9 has plenty so I think your flight planning skills need brushing up.
So your fpl is
BGBW-->SI-->6047N-->5948N-->5650N-->5551N-->5253N-->5054N-->7C-->D038Q-->CYQX
When Dave issues the next update you will find you bank account will have been debited for the NATS search and flightplanning fee.

And as has been said you cannot fly VFR at FL200 anywhere except perhaps the Himalyas.

If I may step in here: This is a support forum, but I think the only official support comes from Dave. We others are just users like you (except for having access to the betas) with the usual clash of opinions/cultures/experiences. I assume (vololiberista: correct me if I'm wrong) his mail was meant half to make you a better pilot and half as an inside joke (the charging for routing services), and the third half might have been triggered by some rude comments by other people who basically say that PF3 is a bad piece of software, because it does not magically fix errors I make.

Please stay here and try to feel at home, and point out if you feel treated rude, because I doubt that this is his intention.

Well thanks! I am extremely busy with other things to do and yet I found the time to provide you with a working flightplan.
So I find you rather off hand with your thankless comment.
I thought this was a support forum Yes it is for PF3, not for how to do a fpl in FSX. Still you got what you asked for so be thankful for that as none of us need to have replied.

I use Skyvector along with Plan G for creating flight plans. There are three videos on Youtube on Plan G which is free. The 3rd video shows how to use Skyvector in conjuction with Plan G to create a Flight plan either IFR or VFR. You have to watch the video a couple of times, since at first it seems confusing, but after watching it again and trying, within no time at all you will be creating Flightplans very easily and quickly which you can load right into your sim and Pf3
