I've been flying from EGLL the past few days and each time I get close to the runway (just one a/c in front of me), ATC (Tower) tells me to 'Continue Taxi. Vacate runway using taxiway November 1'.. (at runway 27L).

Why I am being told to vacate the runway when I am about to enter it, for take-off? What does that instruction mean there? I haven't noticed this command before, or at other airports (but I'll monitor that).

I don't then seem to get any line up and wait instruction when I am at the front of the queue, unless I ask 'manually' via a keyboard shortcut. (Not 100% sure of that at this stage - I do wait, but maybe I need to wait longer. It's not that traffic is inbound, as I am cleared to line up when I ask to do so).

Thanks.

Logs or it did not happen :)

Besides this, I never saw such a behaviour myself. This call should only happen at your destination airport.
Maybe PF3 decided that you already did arrive?
Was this a flight from EGLL to EGLL?

Well, actually it was EGLL - EIDW.. Exactly the same thing happened yesterday, so it's not just a one-off glitch. Arrival in Dublin was perfectly normal...

I meant when I get this odd instruction, BTW; otherwise it's OK.

Log attached. :)

This is the surprising call you got:
06/07/2016 11:44:11: 040 - Current Waypoint No: 0 Dest: 8 iLanding: 0 iClimb=1 Dist to next WP: 1.852087
06/07/2016 11:44:11: 160 - Taxiway Runway crossing set at TWP 51
06/07/2016 11:44:11: 230 - Transcript: 'Speedbird 3205 Continue Taxi vacate runway using taxiway November 1 '
06/07/2016 11:44:18: 390 - Transcript: 'Continue Taxi vacate runway using taxiway November 2 Echo Speedbird 3205 '
06/07/2016 11:45:37: 570 - Current Waypoint No: 0 Dest: 8 iLanding: 0 iClimb=1 Dist to next WP: 1.869954
The "Current Waypoint" lines show that PF3 did not see you at the destination airport.
It seems the "vacate runway" call (which I never saw until now) should tell you where to leave the runway while crossing it, but November 1 vs November 2 in the readback looks like a (small) bug here.

This is the regular call:
06/07/2016 12:56:27: 940 - Current Waypoint No: 8 Dest: 8 iLanding: 1 iClimb=0 Dist to next WP: 0.7337279
06/07/2016 12:56:43: 270 - Transcript: 'vacate runway Left Contact Ground on 121.8 Speedbird 3205 '
06/07/2016 12:56:43: 280 - FS Screen : E-Q vacate runway Left Contact Ground on 121.8 Speedbird 3205
06/07/2016 12:58:20: 480 - Current Waypoint No: 8 Dest: 8 iLanding: 1 iClimb=0 Dist to next WP: 0.7463883
The other problem:
06/07/2016 11:51:36: 340 - Distance to Runway: 799
06/07/2016 11:51:42: 090 - Transcript: 'Tower Speedbird 3205 runway 27 left ready for departure '
06/07/2016 11:52:25: 500 - Transcript: 'Speedbird 3205 Line up and wait runway 27 Left '
06/07/2016 11:54:03: 140 - Distance to Runway: 769
It seems that PF3 thinks that you are still a bit too far away from the runway. I checked some logs and the value is always below 600 for me when my VCP contacts tower automatically.

This is at the departure airport of course...

So what should I do to stop getting the call?

Thanks!!

You know that, I know that, I just wanted to confirm that PF3 knows it, too :)

1. Use a different taxi route, e.g. by using a different parking spot or changing the AFCAD.
2. Ask Dave to change something.

But I do not think this is a bug, maybe a strange wording due to the available phrases. If you have to use/cross a runway during taxi, ATC should be able to tell you where to exit it again.

Thanks - but maybe Dave had best see what he thinks from the log. Changing route to the runway doesn't help - the message comes up as I am pretty much at the hold-short point, ready for 'line up and wait' instructions - I am not needing to cross any runways en route.

I haven't tried yet at other runways at Heathrow to see if the same thing happens, but I will. I have also just updated my EGLL AFCAD (Aerosoft) and will do a few more flights in and out of EGLL over the next few days..

Check how many afcad files of EGLL you have. If you have duplicate add-ons that can cause some confusion.
