Just purchased and finally have it running fine in FSX. Problem is compiling flight plans that were not created in FSX.

At first, I created a simple flight plan within the FSX planner. I then converted it in PFE to PF2000 and it compiled in PF2000 with no problems. Worked in FSX as advertised.

Problem is, I usually create my flight plans in simroutes.com, because it's easy to add STARS and etc. Simroutes exports their flight plan to the FSX .pln format and shows up in the FSX planner with no problem. I am able to convert the simroutes .pln in PFE and then pull up that same .pln in PF2000 to compile. Problem is, I am unable to compile after that. The compile button is unresponsive. I have "real wx" checked and do everything exactly the way I do when I compile an original FSX .pln that was created in FSX.

So, it basically seems like I am only able to compile .pln files that were originally created in the FSX planner. I know for a fact that the simroutes conversion to a FSX .pln works, because those flight plans always show up in the FSX planner and work within the sim.

I even tried loading the simroutes .pln in FSX prior to processing it through PFE and then PF2000. Doesn't work.

I hate the thought of using the basic FSX created flight plans, so maybe someone can help me.

Thanks in advance.

You should not have realwx checked in pf2000

I use FS9 , but this may be of some help.

I too use simroutes to create plans, but simroutes plans do not produce an altitude in the FS9 .pln file

If I open the .pln file in notepad and add a cruise altitude, then PFE can read the file and it can be compiled. Occasionally it does not, so the simple solution is after creating your .pln file with simroutes, start FSX and load the .pln, add an altitude and save the file (overwriting the one created by simroutes). Then start PFE and go through the flightplan process.

Works for me every time

Peter

Okay, thanks. I SHOULD NOT check realwx in FS2000? Thought it was the opposite, but who am I to argue. Funny thing is I had it checked when I converted the FSX generated flight plans and it worked fine. Furthermore, I want PF2000 to understand I am running realwx.

And for the second reply, I did try opening the simroutes .pln in FSX and assigned an altitude. Even loaded it in the sim. Re-saved and had the same problem.

I'm sure it's something minor, but I'm also sure you can appreciate how annoying this is! :)

Thanks again!!

I did just try to compile a .pln from simroutes with realwx NOT checked. It still would not let me compile it, even though I opened that simroutes .pln in FSX first, to make sure it was a valid plan.

Thanks again...

Sorry, I was half asleep when I read/answered your post. You should have RealWX checked in pf2000 otherwise the compile button with be inactive!

No problem and that's what I thought. I did have realwx checked and it still wouldn't let me compile. Again, I don't have this problem when I create the plan within FSX. Only when I use simroutes and convert to a FSX .pln. Even though the simroutes .pln worked perfectly within FSX.

Well I don't have Simroutes so can't help you I'm afraid. Many third party flight planners do work but there were a couple we found way back that didn't. If you'd like to email me a copy of the plan that fails BEFORE you do anything with I'll see if I can determine why it doesn't work

Ok, I'll do that. But until then, can you point me to a free, easy to use flight planner that you know will write FSX plans for PF2000? Doesn't need to be powerful-just one better than the default fsx planner. Thanks again.
