Been using FDC with FS9 for years, but now I've recently jumped over to FSX, hoping to stay.

Oddly, I have never had a problem with FDC like the one I am now experiencing.

I cannot connect FDC to ANY of the aircraft in FSX. Default or third party.

The error is "The aircraft selected in FS does NOT match the one selected in FDC because their flap detentes are different! The panel you are using has 0 flap positions but FDC is configured to
use 5. Please select another aircraft in FS, or another configuration in FDC, then try "connect" again to continue".

So I am running FDC with FSX on the same machine
Windows 7 - 64 bit.
I have the LATEST version of FSUIPC installed and its working. V 4.86 - FSX Version.

The aircraft are various, Overland, default, Abacus, they are NOT AI aircraft.

They all worked in FS9.

I completely understand the error message and what it means, but I can't choose any aircraft, they all show flap settings of 0.
I checked the panel configs, they all have flap settings and flap information.

I have read some posts about the problem, but there isnt much. These are definitely not AI aircraft, but is there some problem with the panel that prohibits FDC from recognizing flap positions?

This is weird. Any suggestion would be helpful. Uninstalled, reinstalled the program. Same problems, FDC will not connect to any aircraft, I keep getting the same message.

John

BTW , running FDC with version 3.14.0. I thought that was the latest, but I'm reading here about version 3.7?

Hi,

don't kwow where you installed FDC and FSX :

first thing is to NOT install FSX and FDC in the program files folder, instead install it in C/D/E... FSX and C/D/E... FDC

They're both installed to the Program Files folders, perhaps for another install, I'll try them outside of that, but not going back now. I know the age old argument about the Program Files folders, and you could very well be right, but I don't believe that its related.

Interestingly,

I have now had some success this morning, and hopefully this will help for anyone else who struggles with this.

After repeatedly trying various settings, I think I may have stumbled on something. For an A300 I have installed, I had to go into FDC, choose "select aircraft" and then choose the Aircraft setting and checklist pulldowns - in this case choosing both the CLS A330 from the aircraft pulldown and the A330-300 from the checklist pulldown worked! I connected FDC with the aircraft and it appears to work okay, not getting the same message. So maybe its a case of making sure both pulldowns match. In the past, I found that choosing the aircraft automatically brought up the right checklist. But this may not work for FSX, I may manually have to select the right aircraft AND checklist.

So advice I can provide so far, is to manipulate/massage the aircraft and checklist pulldowns and keep trying until you have a successful match.

Thanks for the reply, I do appreciate your help.

John

3.14 is the latest version and of you install into the program files folder you WILL have issues, period!

Hi John,

all I can say is that after installing FSX/FDC/PFE out of the program folder, most of the problems are gone

the installers are made for Windows XP and Vista/W7 have there program folder protected

If everone would install there programs outside the program folder 90% of the problems here would have disappeared ;)

Guys, I understand you, and I understand the XP/Vista installation/access problems but there are compatibility and privilege adjustments that can be made at the program level for each program, its really not complicated. Its also not complicated to install outside of the program files folder, I hear you. I still make the small changes with all of my programs and I really have had no issues, FS9 or FSX.

This appears to be related to the aircraft and checklist working hand in hand within FDC. Going through each of my aircraft, once I chose the appropriate aircraft WITH the appropriate checklist, I never got the same message again, the problem is solved. I never saw this problem when I ran the program with FS9, but I did have some problems with the MD-11. I'm not sure why the message indicates there are zero detentes when the aircraft clearly do have them.

Oddly, it will not work with the MD-11 since there appears to be no aircraft checklists with 7 flap detentes. Admittedly, I didnt go through each and every checklist, it gets a bit tedious after a while. I may have missed one, so I may spend some more time on it later.

At any rate, if anyone else has the problem, I've found the key is to make sure the aircraft and the checklist match correctly. Sometimes you have to keep working a checklist until you find a match with the aircraft.

Again, thanks for your help.

Thanks DAve, both are included in the latest DATA information that you can add to FDC, I do see both profiles. But somehow, that information is not aligned with the checklists, because I keep getting the message posted above when I try to marry the MD-11 aircraft and checklist profiles.

Any suggestions (short of installing the program outside of Program Files)? :)
