What I now do if I want to ensure an ILS landing is to close the other runways in the SIDs and STARs section. You can see at a glance there what has ILS (although I don't object to a backcourse landing either). Some of the aircraft I fly aren't easily managed on approach and visual landings can turn out an embarrassing mess! If you want to stop AI traffiic using those other runways too, you will have to close them to traffic in FS's A&FD file, because the above only affects your "player" aircraft. John |

Hm. Ok. I'll soldier on and see what happens next. John |

Well, that's a lot of coincidences. I haven't once been given an ILS since the update and I've done a lot of flights. One of the problems is, I'm given runways that don't even appear on Tim's Plan G although admittedly they seem to be there. However, the fact remains that I might just as well fly VFR. ![]() John |

I would say that you have a big scenery issue. Best to check for duplicate afcads too. |

I agree. As I recall you fly with a lot of add-on scenery so before your flights you should probably make it a practice to double-check PF3's data for your departure and destination airports. Go to the SID/STAR page, type the ICAO code for the airport, and hit Enter. The list will show the runways PF3 thinks are at the airport, along with the ILS frequencies. If the data are not what you expect (i.e., if the runway numbers are wrong or missing, or if ILS frequencies are missing) then you have a database issue and should probably rebuild the database (and check for duplicate AFCADs) before your flight. If the runway or ILS does not appear in the list, PF3 does not know it is there. |

OK - I'll bite. How do I re-build the data base? However, I must say that yes, I do have a lot of addon scenery. However, that takes in Australia, New Zealand, the Western states of America, and all of Western Europe. I am not getting ILS landings in either America or Europe. They can't all have wrong runway frequences surely?! John |

John, EVERYTIME you add new scenery you need to rebuild the PF3 database, which is very straightforward Select Options #1 from the main screen, then select 'Rebuild PF3 Database' and follow the on-screen instructions. It requires you run MakeRwys too but again those instructions are display as a checklist. |

I realised something this afternoon. I've been relying too heavily on Tim Arnott's Plan G. It's excellent for the maps but it doesn't seem to be up to date with the runways and frequencies. I flew into Schipol (EHAM) this afternoon and used the SID's & STARS panel to check the runways and found runway 27 which wasn't on the Plan G list. ![]() Guess where PF3 instructed me to land ILS?!!!! It turned it into a good finish to the flight. ![]() I've now updated the Data Base Dave. Got a bit mixed up with Makeaways and the Data Base but it's all gone in without duplications, so we'll see. Thanks Dave. John |

I use ACA2005 ver 1.6.6 to check on duplicate airfields, aircraft, flightplans, timetables, afcads etc. In fact the whole show. |
