Hello,

I have recently re-installed PFE (NOT in program files), then I downloaded and added the ‘Cumulative Updates’ …that went ok. I then purchased & installed the Voice Pack Expansion add-on, followed that by the Voice pack enhancement add-on – that loaded fine too.. I use FSX & Windows 7.

Now , when I go into PF Emulator .as before I find the plan I want, use the ‘plan convertor’, that is accepted, then go to PF2000 – compile as before , go back to PF Emulator, select the appropriate flight & connect . I then get an on screen error message as follows :-“ PFE HAS A PROBLEM & WILL DISCONNECT” yet before the re-install PFE worked perfectly well.

One other thing that I have noticed is that after I get the PROBLEM warning – I can see a PFE message “ This version of PFE supports full taxi guidance you need to rebuild the database first etc etc….” does this relate to my problem? Only I haven’t used Taxi guidance before either.

Also,In the PFE Emulator I am uncertain if I set the Source & Target destinations correctly . Source is C:\ Users\my name\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\
Target is :-C\New Folder C\FS2000\Pilots\.

I have never encountered anything like this before , I hope you can help.

Are you getting any logs created in the PFE\Logs folder when you get the error message, if so please email them to me.

Do you have the latest version of FSUIPC installed?

Well this is VERY strange indeed. As you can see from the error message PFE was unable to detrmine the path to your FS installation....

11/02/2015 14:24:43: 050 - Path used:

...this should show the complete path to your FS. This information is read from FSUIPC, so I'm at a loss to know why your system is failing. Is PFE installed on the same PC as your FS?

Hello again,

Yes PFE is on the same PC. However, when I re-installed PFE recently I followed your direction carefully not to install it in Program Files - my FSX is installed in Programme Files (x86)

If you cannot assist then my purchase is useless - then again it did work quite well where it was previously installed - although I couldn't update it - perhaps I should never have done this re-install :? .

Thanks

Ian

Well I admit I'm clutching at at straws but please try installing the latest version of FSUIPC then try again.... let's see if you get the same error.

Ian,
depending on how many addons,if any that you have in FSX...why not re-install FSX into just "C" drive or wherever but not in Program Files directory, see if that helps solve your issue, not saying it will, but maybe worth a try...

Hello,
Well, firstly, I tried the latest FSUIPC, that didn't change anything, except it messed up my FSX settings somewhat!

The concept of re-installing FSX with all the addons I have is really not a viable option for me - wayyyyy too much hassle & aggravation.

I'm not a techie but I am really confused as to why PFE worked quite well in it's original location in Program files (x68) & yet won't work now.

Looks like I'm stuffed. :(

Thanks

Ian

Ian
Installing or updating FSUIPC of it self can not mess up any settings. It will only change settings when you ask it too.
