HELP with star and atc

hey guys i set up a star followed daves tutorial but i get a message from atc saying you are xx miles of course! can someone please help....

You can adjust the 'Airway Deviation' for that nag from the default of 4 miles or you can turn it off completely... or you could choose to stay on the airway

So is this normal for that to happen david? Think i'll turn it off but would like to know why its doing this....
