Hello everyone, sorry if this has already been answered, discussed or solved elsewhere but I'm in need of assistance with PFE.

I had it working like a dream and followed all the installation/setup instructions from the manual but something crashed while I was looking at the manual and now it's all gone pear shaped. I was following my taxi route to Rwy27l @ EGLL when the TGS audio assistance got lost and I was looking in the manual for the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+W to skip to next taxiway when FSX crashed.

Prior to this, I'd load and setup a flight at my gate of choice, I'd "Connect to FS" and the FSUIPC Display window would show up with a brief message about Transition Altitudes 6000/6000 and I knew that all was good, I'd tune to the ATIS, listen to the message then press 0 and the FSUIPC window would kindly remind me to retune to the clearance frequency - a very handy tool indeed - and then contact clearance. Pressing 0 again, whilst using VC Co-Pilot Mode 2 then re-tuned the radio and the FO would contact clearance for me and all would be good, I'd also see other AI traffic contact Ground/Tower etc with their conversations in the window mode and all was running sweet. However, after the crash, there's no window, no FO, nothing by pressing 0, \, R, no ATIS when tuning to 128.075 and my FSUIPC settings are as required.

I uninstalled everything, ran CCleaner, rebooted, reinstalled, setup my options, compiled FltPlns & ADV files ok, "Connect to FS" and - nothing!!

Does anyone have a starting point on this?

Stuart

Can you run and open PFE? Can you configure the various PFE options of your choice? What happens when you select an ADV and connect to FS? Any messages? What version of PFE are you using? What OS are you running? Where have you installed PFE? If you've installed it into the default C:\Program Files folder and you're running Windows Vista or later then that is the cause of the problem.

Hi Dave, thanks for the response.

I can run and open both PFE and PF2000 with no problems;
I can configure all options to my choice;
I can select an ADV, make changes to SID's & STAR's, runways in use etc.. and can seemingly connect to FS as expected, ie the PFE interface changes to the volume sliders which are all ok;
No messages, no FSUIPC window, no white noise when changing to the ATIS or clearance frequencies and no reaction to any hotkeys, ie 0;
Using PFE2.14.0 with Accumulative updates installed;
Running W7 64bit; &
PFE is installed in my E:/aerosoft/pfe folder.

I just re-installed PFE, re-checked that it is usable but just can't make it activate/initialize within FSX.

Is it creating any logs in your PFE/Logs folder? If so please ZIP and email them to me

I have four log files, Atc_Chat, debug_monitor, Install & startup which I've just emailed to you.

You have PFE set to ensure you contact ATIS prior to Clearance and should be seeing the following message

"Please tune to ATIS on 128.07 before contacting Clearance"

Yeah, I did have the text window on my initial installation, but now I don't, no display window, no static when I tune to ATIS, no ATIS voice, no First Officer voice, no reaction to the 0 hotkey!

Could it be a leftover module or SimConnect/WideFS issue Dave?

Hi stuart,
did you re-install PFE into same folder as previous setup,like for like....if so did you completely delete any left over files and folders that may have been left behind,this way you can be sure of a completely clean install of PFE..

I used Add/Remove programs from control panel, deleted the folder it was in, ran CCleaner and rebooted then installed to a new folder location.

Did the log file show that PFE was active within the sim? If so, I'd be inclined to believe that PFE is running ok, it's just the bridge or interface within the sim that's somehow blocking PFE from showing activity through voices and FSUIPC's window.

Yes PFE is connected to FS... it doesn't use Simconnect it uses FSUIPC. Each time you hit the zero key the message displayed is as previously mentioned
