If I check the radio button in Virtual Co-Pilot settings so that flaps and gear are dealt with by FDC, is this a global setting? If so (which is fine) can I exclude certain a/c?

Occasionally (like tonight) I can't get this setting to work at all. I am flying a Dash 8 (Dreamfleet) and although the pilots retract the gear after take-off, they neither set initial flaps at the start of the taxi, nor control them during flight. I am not sure how to fix this. I looked at the profile I am using, which looks OK.

#Title:Dash 8
#Crew:2
#Flaps:000011100010
#NTOF:15
#MaxCruise:250
#MType:1
#RGear:1

.. at least flaps 15 should be set when I start to taxi, but no... Any idea why VCP isn't taking over flaps for this plane (other a/c are fine in this respect, just this Dash 8 being awkward at the moment).

Thanks for any help.

Martin

You will need to have it set within the profile if it's a profile you are using,if not download mine from the front page of this website in FDC and downloads.

Thanks Dave. These are the settings in the profile. I thought Deploy=1 is right for flaps (I don't get gear down at landing either - but the gear is retracted after take-off):

Is your autopilot set to 3rd party in the profile?

off top of my head as i'm not at my main rig, options then performance profile, scroll up/down for your aircraft,open/edit and on very first page you see a few options and one is to apply a 3rd party or MS default autopilot to your profile, make sure it says 3rd party if 3rd party aircraft.

I could picture the screen, but could I find it?? Got it now, and have set Autopilot type to 3rd. party (it wasn't before), so I'll check soon that this has helped.

Many thanks Dave,

Martin :)

I have the AP set to 3rd. party, but still FDC is not setting flaps for this a/c, either at the start of taxi, or during the flight.

Is it set in profile to deploy and retract flaps?

The Dash 8 profiles have the line:

VCPMode = 1

under the Co=Pilot section, which I think means that gear & flaps should be under VCP control,
