I am flying from KLAX IN A 737-700 in MegaSceneryEarth CALIFORNIA 1.0 to KLAS in MegaSceneryEarth NEVADA 2.0. I am also using FDC in this flight. My flight altitude is 29,000 feet. Everything seems to be going fine until I cross from MegaSceneryEarth CALIFORNIA 1.0 into MegaSceneryEarth 2.0 Nevada 2.0 and begin my decent into KLAS. At that moment everything freezes. Moments later FSX aborts and I see a screen that identifies itself as this: Flightdeck Companion

underneath is this message: error 52 - Bad file name or number in 'updateBlackbox' routine 0

This message is all in a blue box.

Now, I also try this same flight without FDC engaged and the flight proceeds very smoothly all the way including the landing at KLAS.

To make sure that this is FDC problem I have done this flight 10 exact times with the exact same results every time, both with and without FDC activated and came up with the same results.
I have also done the same thing with other flights too.

What is error 52?

What am I doing wrong to cause this error?

Is this the first time using FDC,as it done this at other scenery,are you running latest version 3.14.

What aircraft are you using and profile,what other messages if any.

(it should have read 3.84 not 3.14 error on my part)

This is NOT the first time using FDC. I have used it for years. This only happens on long flights.
I am using the latest FDC Version 3.79.
I am also using the latest registered FSUIPC4 Version 9.21f by Pete Dawson.

Ok,you are not using the latest version of FDC and fsuipc.

The latest version is 3.84 not 3.14 as i stated earlier got confused with PFE, i apologise for that error on my part.

Please go to the link in this forum for the cumulative updater and that should solve your problem,also please avoid using block caps ie:NOT as it is deemed as shouting!

Also fsuipc is out of date

Where is FDC installed,hopefully not in C:/Program Files

What is the latest fsuipc version Please, as I went to Peter Dawson's site and was told this was the latest version 9.21f and paid for that registered key also.

Exactly where do I also find the newest version FDC 3.84, as I cannot upload it from my 3.79 version I have now, as it tells me I already have the latest version and there is no further upgrades at this time?

I hope my fsx.cfg was not too complicated to cause other problems.

If you're running Windows Vista or later do NOT instal into the default "c:/program files" folder, because Windows regards that as a protected area and will prevent certain files being written and/or updated. First of all practically no one is running Vista anymore. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. My C: Drive is a Samsung 512 SSD Drive. My computer is an Very Ultra High End System. Where is FDC supposed to be installed? It sounds like you are an expert, but you certainly don't like to tell anyone where is the best place to install it, just where NOT to install it. A little help is certainly appreciated please, without having to drag it out of you.

Does it mean 'out of available memory'? Is that why FSX freezes and breaks off from FDC and then reboots FSX, but doesn't reboot successfully, because FSX has to be shut down again and FSX has to be restarted from scratch.
I will try it your way and see if I have any luck with hopefully better results. Right now I have FDC and Version 3.79. I will try fdc accum314 and let you know my results in a few days. Thank You.

- does not matter as long as it is not the program folder(x86) : so install it in C:\FDC - D:\FDC ...

So Starcd53 this is what you need to do.

Uninstall FDC,delete all files and folders that are left behind,restart your system and then re-install into any drive as described by Patrick,(everbody has different setups that's why it's easier to say NOT to install into Program Files.)

Then you will need to update to the latest version using the accumulative updater again as Patrick explained to you.

Hopefully this will conclude this matter.

I have downloaded the latest cumulative update 3.14, from the support forum. The update corrected the error 52 message and eliminated the freeze I was reporting. Thank you.

I have also re-installed FDC on Drive C:, by itself, under NO-Program Files.
