As a newbie struggling to get my Airbus X Extended working on PFE I have some basic questions.

I have FSX, PFE, FSUIPC, MakeRwys, FSUIPC4 all updated and installed correctly I believe. As yet I have been unable to get PFE to work and suspect I have made some simple errors. What do I have to do to get it to work?

1) How exactly do I get the ADV file activated in the Airbus? (FSUIPC notifies me that the ADV is installed) Putting the question another way, what workflow do I have to follow to make the ADV active?

2) Regarding the Airbus MCDU, I understand that the flight plan has to be manually inputted into the MCDU. Does this have to be done first, fully and correctly, to activate the ADV or can it be left until later?

3) What is the relationship between the ATC ADV file complied from a flight plan, and the actual flight plan that you have to input into the Airbus. In other words what is been prioritised?

When you initially create your flightplan using either FSX own planner or FS Build etc it will create the plan into .pln format.
PFE reads it in .pln format along with FSX,so put it simple...your plan is being read by both programmes.

To get it to work in Airbus extended you need a planner that converts the plan into what is needed for the MCDU,is it .rte or another format?

You may need to manually enter waypoints into the MCDU but it does have consequences if the waypoint is not in the database,so you may get scolded for being off the airway.

I also strongly advise you to read the Airbus manual with regards to flightplanning and the MCDU,also contact the relevant forum about flightplans and Airbus Extended in Aerosoft, because some plans need to be re-named to show in the MCDU's....

I take it PFE works well with other aircraft?

Dave,

Had a quick look at my files and the Airbus manual

I have the following relevant files

1) FSX file eg IFR Glasgow to Heathrow.pln
2) This gets converted in PFE into the 'Pilots' folder eg PFE Glasgow to Heathrow.pln
3) This then gets into the ADV file as an.ADV file.

I assume this is all correct?

It's not the MCDU that's troubling me. I've learnt from the Aerosoft Airbus forum about this - that I will have to manually input stuff

I don't understand your statement -

'To get it to work in Airbus extended you need a planner that converts the plan into what is needed for the MCDU,is it .rte or another format?'

Dave,

Tried with a default FS aircraft and got it going at last.

Will try the Airbus soon and report back with screenshots if I can
