Hello

I have recently bought and installed PFE deluxe. I have been through the process of using the accumulative installer and it all appears to be working up until the point I want to compile a converted flight plan. I have tried the using the manual but the pictures on the pdf are not readable in any resolution so I followed the YouTube tutorial but am still getting stuck.

After selecting a converted FP the name appears in the window Flight Plan File Name as PFE_EGKK-LPMA.PLN. I have checked that my ALT is at least that of the FP but none of the buttons such as View Plan, Print Compile, Add SID or Add STAR are usable, they are greyed out. I have ensured Use Real Weather is checked in Settings too.
FS2000 path is D\:Aerosoft\PFE\FS2000
APLC Path is D\:Aerosoft\PFE\FS2000\ADV

If I ever click on the yellow ? button I get an Out of Memory message and the whole lot closes down.

Are you able to help me please?

My specs are

Win7 64bit SP1
Intel Core i7-3.40GHz
16GB RAM
FSX Accel
FSUIPC registered version

Many thanks

Andrew

Where have you installed PFE?

This sounds like a very bad install, did you turn off AV and Firewall....you do not need to be connected to the internet for this when installing PFE providing you have your reg details to hand..

Hi

I have installed it on my partitioned D drive, the same partition as all my other FSX related programs. I have an SSD which is partitioned. It isn't installed in C\:Program Files (x86) if that's what you mean. When you say sounds like a very bad install, what do you mean? I installed it according to the instructions using the downloaded installer. I turned the AV (which is Microsoft Security Essentials) off but not the firewall. Do I have to turn this off too? It doesn't mention either of these in the manual.

Regards

Andrew

Dave

I have completed a full reinstall with AV and firewall turned off. I have also set my AV to ignore all PFE exe file in its real time protection. I still can't Compile and the other bottons mentioned before are all still greyed out. Would it be helpful to send you and screenshots of the GUI when I use it? I can only assume that I'm doing something wrong here.

I'm really looking forward to using PFE so I hope the issue isn't terminal for me.

Regards

Andrew

EDIT above

I have just discovered my error. Most of my flight plans in the documents folder are built by FS Build. I have just generated a flight plan the old fashioned way in FSX and it worked. I gather from your FAQs that it is possible to use FS Build FPs as long as I exlude NATS data, which I do. Can you direct me to where I can get more info on that please? Alos, I noticed that the Insert SID/STAR buttons were still greyed out. I have used the SIDs/STARs setup GUI to insert some preferred ones.

Thanks

Andrew

You have to tell FSBuild to output the correct format... I can't remember off the top of my head what that was but it should be obvious.

Also you do NOT need to use the SID/STARs from PF2000.... these are catered for in PFE
