I am having problems connecting FDC with FSX. It seems FDC is not being recognized by FSX. I have reinstalled both the product from the CD (I have the boxed product)and the downloaded accumulated upgrade. I am running the following:

MS Flight Simulator X w/Acceleration Pack
Windows 8 64-bit
FDC 3.14 w/ accumulated upgrade
FSUIPC 4.86 (most current version)
Justflight/Wilco/Feethere PIC 737-300/500

It works but periodically, FDC will not connect saying I must be in the cockpit to start a flight and connect.

I looked at the FSUIPC log and saw the connection attempt but no reason why it disconnected. I looked at the connection file in the C:\FDC\logs directory. This is what was there:

22/03/13 09:49:02 Start FS connection from Main Menu...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Resetting Flight Variables...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Resetting Flight Variables complete...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Connect to FS now...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Checking for ATC Chatter files...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Checking Hotkey Slots...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Setup Hotkeys...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Setup DirectSound...
22/03/13 09:49:02 ...complete
22/03/13 09:49:02 Give FS Focus...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Renaming BB logs...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Open New BB log...
22/03/13 09:49:02 Reading FS Data #1...
22/03/13 09:49:06 ...complete.

I looked at the black box file in the same directory. This is what I have:

22/03/13 09:49:03: (00:00:00) - *** Attempting to Connect to the FS Menu

I have replied to your email but does this only happen with one particular aircraft?

I have only used FDC with the Just Flight/Wilco/feelthere PIC 737, specifically the 737-500.

Well if it's happening with stock aircraft there must be something else amiss.

Have you tried installing the cumulative updates package from this forum as that tends to fix most issues. Also please ensure you have not installed FDC into the default C:\Program Files folder because you will have no end of unexplained issues if you have done so

I installed at the root of C: -- C:\Aerosoft\FDC. I have installed the fdc_accum314 file. Updates say no further updates available. I have found that it might be related to fsuipc being blocked because at the same time FDC exhibits this behavior, the weather radar stops working too. I have found that if I load FSX and FDC fails to work I can switch from say KPHL or KBWI to KMCO, connect FDC then move the plane back to KPHL or KBWI and it works then. I have to disconnect then connect again, but it works. I tried changing the scenery in KPHL and it loaded okay. I also noticed that it does not work with default scenery. The difference being that default scenery has working jetways. Everything is pointing to a interface problem between FDC and FSUIPC. I have turned on logging for IPC reads and writes in FSUIPC. But I have no experience debugging this issue.

I may have an answer. FSUIPC log shows an exception when I try to connect an run weather radar.

146266 Exception 12 "TOO_MANY_REQUESTS", Ref 5112, Index param -1 on RequestDataOnSimObject for AI Aircraft id=2925 [0x00B6D]

So I turned down my setting on the traffic and used "Ultimate High" the highest setting. I then adjsted the sliders to 35% and it seems to be working fine now. Before my settings were at 50%. We'll see.

Interesting. This maybe something you should mention to Pete Dowson, author of FSUIPC
