I have just installed FDC and have started to work through the 'Introductory Flight' tutorial. I can't get passed the early stages for error messages.
1. I cannot find the FDC Introductory Flight in my Flight Sim flight options.
2. With FS running when I hit the connect button Im get the message - PIC timed out all entries. I then click OK
3. I do have the latest FDC update and I do hva ethe latest version of FSUIPC.

What am I doing wrong please?
Thanks
John

What error messages are you getting?

What directory have you installed FDC into?

Did you turn off all security features ie:Anti Virus and Firewall?

Hi Dave. Thanks for getting back to me. The error message I'm now getting when I click the 'Connect' button is: Error 429 ArchiveX Component can't create object in 'SetupDirectSound' routine.
FDC is installed in the following directory:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Aerosoft\FDC\Fdc.exe"
When you ask did Iturn off all security features such as Anti Virus and Firewall, do you mean at the time if the install? or all the time? No I didn't do that, is that important?
Thx again for your help
John

Hi John,

Installing into the Program Files folder on a Vista or Win 7 system can cause untold issues, because this is a Windows protected folder and it can prevent files being updated, etc. Best to avoid it... even for FS!

I know the cd installer defaults to that folder but the instal script was written pre Vista.

You really need to turn off Windows UAC, your anti virus and any other security type programs you might have during the installation only.

Oh yeah and if you're not running version 3.14 you need to download and instal the cumulative updates package from this forum.

Hope that helps

Dave March

Thank you Dave. I am running version 3.14, so I assume I do not need the updates.
Not sure where to find the Windows UAC to turn it off, think I know how to turn off the AntiVirus and Firewall.
Do I need to un-install FDC now, and re-install it where? If not the program files please.
Thanks again for, all your help.
John

best is to install FDC in C:/FDC and FSX in C:/FSX

I have uninstalled FDC and re-installed it to C:FDC I turned off all my Firewalls and Anti Virus stuff for the install.
I open FS2004 and select the FDC Introductory Flight. I click the CONNECT button on FDC and get - Error 429 ActiveX component can't create object in 'SetupDirectSound' routine. Then FDC automatically shuts itself off.
Please help.
John
