I have my Source folder set to C:\users\myname\documents\Microsoft Flight Simulator (which is where I have my .PLN files that FSBuild creates. Target folder is the one that PFE recommends E:\Program Files (x86)\Aerosoft\PFE\FS2000\Pilots. When I select the .PLN file to convert and hit the Convert FS FP to PF2000 it tells me that the file is okay and doesn't convert. When I go into Pro Flight 2000 and click on Select Flight The E:\Program Files (x86)\PFE\FS2000\Pilots. folder opens but there are not flights in there. I have to navigate back to C:\users\myname\documents\Microsoft Flight Simulator to find the .PLN file to Compile. I guess because the .PLN file was not converted to a PF2000 file it didn't create one and put it in the required target directory.
I changed the Target folder back to C:\users\myname\documents\Microsoft Flight Simulator by copying the dummy.pln file into and it shows up correctly in the FS9/FSX Flight Plans Converter window but in Pro Flight 2000 it stays as the default folder *\*\Pilots.
Any suggestions or corrections to what I'm doing?
Thanks
Alan

No, FSBuild exports a .PLN file. The issue is the function Convert FS FP to PF2000 does not convert the file because it's already in a format that PFE can use (.PLN) so it doesn't put the converted file in the E:\Program Files (x86)\PFE\FS2000\Pilots folder (as it would if it was converting a file format other than .PLN). I cannot change the source folder in Pro Flight 2000 from its default. If someone can help me changing the default it would solve my problem.

Alan,
i personally think you may need to uninstall PFE completely and all its folders...re-install just by creating a folder simply called PFE,now this can go anywhere on your system,i think by allowing it to create Program Files etc is upsetting it..and not allowing it to see where your flightplans are.

My system setup is C:\PFE,i too use windows7-64bit without any of these issues,i too have used FS Build2 and FSC 8.6 and flight plans for FS2004 and FSX have their own folders,my source is C:\Users\Dave|Documents\Flight Simulator Files and Target is C:\PFE\FS2000\Pilots..

Now this is entirely upto you,but you seem to be going round in circles with all this,so if you do decide to re-install,when in setup, you will need to locate the folder if you go along and create the folder as i suggest,it just keeps it all-so simple..and if you do,don't forget to run a registry checker/cleaner..

If you want me to talk you through this stage at a time, then e-mail me at david.leesley@hotmail.co.uk so i can check it with you..

err, not quite
old style FS2k4 / FSX are .PLN 'fs' coded
FSX .PLN new style is XML when you LOOK IN THE FILE

flightplans from within FSX own flightplanner save as .PLN BUT ARE XML
this can be easily mixed up when point and load
I always chk, when a .pln doesnt appear in the compiled list

I don't create flight plans in FSX I do it in FSBuild. It's not an XML file as PFE will not use that format. My compiled flight plan works fine it's just that I cannot change the default location where Pro Flight 2000 looks for the plan to compile.

Why not try getting FSBuild to save the plan in the Pilots folder, or just copy them there manually.

I uninstalled PFE, deleted all folders, reinstalled PFE to the default location, ran the accumulated update. This fixed the problem. Even though I get a message that says that no conversion of the FSBuild flight plan is required it puts the FS2000 flight plan (adds FS2000 in front of the FSBuild file name) in the default folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Aerosoft\PFE\FS2000\Pilots so when I run Pro Flight 2000 the flight plan is in the default folder. I guess PFE doesn't like being installed in anything but the default location.
Thanks
Alan
