Okay, I'm having some issues and it may well be me as I'm new to this program.
Here's what I did and please let me know if there is something incorrect or in the wrong order.
  • Compiled flight plan and set my start time about ten minutes ahead of actual time and start location at KMIA as runway 16L. Voice said that flight plan was filed and to contact clearance on 120.35
  • Selected the compiled flight by clicking on New Adventure, BTW there was no check box next to my flight as shown in the tutorial (is this normal) but I highlighted it and hit LOAD
  • At the main screen my flight plan shows in the bar but there is no Adjust Waypoint etc, or Define Oceanic Air Space bars (is this normal)?
  • Started FSX and got a message saying The flight plan you are trying to open is missing -- flight loaded without flight plan (and it gave me a folder location).
  • Selected my aircraft as it defaulted to the Cessna 172 (is this normal as I set the aircraft in PFE)?
  • Made sure the time was set to actual
  • Clicked on Connect to FS in PFE
  • Back in FSX clicked on Flight Plan and selected the one that PFE compiled.
  • Hit Fly Now
Here's my issues (apart from the questions above).
  • The aircraft was positioned on the grass at the side of a taxiway and not at the selected runway.
  • I hear ATC chatter but my flight number (November Oscar Romeo Sierra) was never called after the start time had come and gone.
Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan,
yes you certainly have some issues here and i don't know if system related or not..

Yes, you should have a check box...it is normal and should be present..

Yes, you should have Adjust Waypoint Altitudes etc bar and define oceanic airspace aswell??...this is normal and should be present.

You should ideally, create a flightplan as per tutorials, start FSX and load your aircraft you wish to fly with and then click on flightplanner in FSX to load your fp's(you will see a list of your FP's ie EGCCEGLL.pln etc, select that plan and load it,then select your desired location, runway, gate etc in FS!
Then once all that and any weather etc is loaded, then select your plan in PFE and connect to FS..

Once that is sorted the rest should drop into place, but what concerns me is what you described above of not seeing boxes etc..

Hi there Dave
I created a flight plan per the tutorials and started FSX, but may have not followed the procedure you mentioned. I will try that again tomorrow. So this is the correct sequence?
  • Create FP in FPE
  • Start FSX
  • Load aircraft
  • Select location -- eg gate
  • Select the flight plan in PFE and load it
  • Click on Connect to FSX
  • Wait on start time I selected in the PFE flight plan
Do I need to reload PFE to fix the other issue? In a separate post I said that I got an error message when I loaded PFE (Missing NSVCR71.dll file. Reinstall PFE.). Does this have anything to do with the missing check box, Adjust Waypoint Altitudes, and Define Oceanic Airspace boxes?
Thanks
Alan

Alan,
if you are still getting that missing dll file you mentioned and it can't be found on net, then yes...you will have to uninstall PFE as i mentioned in a post about the missing file.
I believe once you uninstall and then reinstall and run a registry checker and turn off AV and firewall(not in that order mind) you shouldn't get anymore problems..
Yes that is the correct sequence,or the way i run FS and PFE,just remember to run FSX first,do whatever you need to do and then after creating flight in PFE and setting it up to your preference, then click connect..

Dave
I uninstalled and reinstalled PFE and got the same missing .DLL file. I will do a search on the Internet for it. BTW when I first clicked on FS2004 flight plan it asked me where the source folder was. I selected the one where I saved my FSBuild .PLN files. It then asked for the location of the folder to save the created PFE flights I selected the folder inside FSX but it wouldn't accept is as it was looking for a file and not a folder. When I clicked on cancel, the program shut down. Also when installing PFE it thinks my OS is Vista (I run WIN7 64bit).
Does this have anything to do with the missing .DLL file?
Thanks
Alan

Here is a screen shot of the procedure and you can see it's looking for a FS Flight Plans (*.PLN) file and not a destination folder.

You haven't been following the instructions in the manuals, the destination folder for the converted plans needs to be a specific location, on my system it is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Aerosoft\PFE\FS2000\Pilots

The file it is looking for in the above folder is "dummy.pln"

The source folder needs to be your flight simulator folder where FS9 or FSX saves it plans by default, for FSX on my Windows 7 system it is;

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files

Ah so that's what that dummy file was for. Thanks Andy. It was a little confusing as it said to specify the folder and never mentioned a dummy file.
I reinstalled the program after putting in the missing .DLL file and didn't get any error messages. However I'm still missing the check box and Adjust Waypoint etc, and Define Oceanic Air Space bars .
One more thing, I set my start time about 10 minutes ahead and checked the FS2000 time box, but my flight clearance never gets called. Is there ahot key I need to set to start the flight?
Thanks
Alan

First of all what version is PFE, it should tell you in the screen that appears when you first launch it?

Next please follow the tutorial that is in the manual, it will explain how to use PFE correctly, clearance will not automatically call you when your slot is ready, you have to contact them, this is all covered in the tutorial.
