FS9 had a CTD today after flying out of AMS's new Cancun scenery. Ever since then FDC refuses to launch. I get the welcome screen and then the 'Run-Time Error'. I've tried uninstalling the program and then reinstalling it only to find the same thing. I had all the latest updated for the program before the crash. I tried running 'REG CURE' to get rid of any bad entries but nothing is solving the problem. I've had this program installed for years without any issue now this...

Are there any logs being created in the fdc logs folder when you attempt to start it?

I deleted any logs present. I tried to start the program, the Run-Time Error is still present...

For the record I've done a complete system restore which hasn't solved the problem. I've deleted FDC, scrubbed the registry with RegCur, and reinstalled FDC to find the same error on startup. Something in the Registry is amiss that this program needs to run...

What other applets does FDC need installed in Windows to run? The problem is not FDC itself but something it needs to run (outside of Flight Simulator 9). Something that's put in the registry seems to have gotten corrupted.

What language is FDC programmed in so I can run a debugger on the faulting code and report back to you guys.

In order to debug the program I just realized I need the source code. I know good luck with that... I can't imagine what would cause this program to fail at the splash screen before the main gui comes up. What does this program need to bring up the gui?

Try downloading/installing the cumulative updates package and make sure you turn off all other programs when installing, especially your anti virus and any other security type products

I already tried that. I'm sorry Dave I can't believe there's not that much support for this product seeing the 2011 version is out. I think you guys have done an outstanding job with this program but this is a bit rediculas a common 'Run-Time' can't be resolved...

You say that you have had this product for years without any problems, what have you done to your system to upset FDC?

You state you have added some scenery, could that have caused an issue?

Sometimes updating your system can cause issues, have you done that recently?

When was the last time FDC worked without any problems?

Abit more info wouldn't go amiss before criticising the support team!!
