Hi. Problem now with PMDG747-400. When I connect to FS9 and then begin the first checklist (prestart) the first few items are read, but every time the programme gets to 'Nav Light Switch' FDC aborts - same whether I have first turned the lights on myself or not. Of course it may not be the NavLights that are causing the error, but that's where FDC always stops. The FDC window that opens says "Error:11-Division by zero in UpdateBlackbox routine 0". When I click on OK, FDC closes. I have used the same checklist with other 747s (not PMDG) and don't get the same problem.
Any idea what is wrong? I will paste the error log and my checklist below.

.. BTW, if after closing down FDC I start it up again and click 'Connect' (same PMDG 747 flight running) I get a different error message "Not enough HotKey slots for this application...." - which I don't get in the beginning.

In the performance file jabbed you set that aircraft as having a non standard auto pilot. That's probably the issue.

You mean I shouldn't have the performance file set as 3rd. party auto pilot? I'd have thought that would be correct for the PMDG a/c?

Can't test this now, because having changed nothing in the interim at all, the error is no longer happening! I tested several times before I posted and FDC quit every time. Now, it's OK. Good, but just SO typical of computers!!!

Ok Dave, thanks: if the problem comes back I will try that. What is the 3rd. party option for then - in the video tutorials available for creating performance files, Dave implies (or says, I don't recall now) that for none 'native' FS a/c the 3rd. party option should be checked..

Because fdc cannot interact with some third party auto pilots, due to the fact that the developers did not use the normal memory offsets and unfortunately do not offer all developers the information to do so.

Hi Dave,

Well, I changed the PMDG Performance file to default MSFS from 3rd. party, but no difference: FDC still quits when it gets to 'Nav Lights' on the checklist. So, as it always quits in the same place, I deleted that Nav Lights call from my checklist and then FDC ran through it without a problem. I have now added Nav Lights again, but a bit earlier in the checklist and FDC still seems to run the Prestart checklist OK.

But now the same thing happens when the 'Before Pushback' checklist reaches 'Beacon Lights', FDC quits with the same error message. Don't suppose there's any reason you can think of for this? There's not a lot one can do with 'Nav Lights'/'Beacon Lights' in the list - check the box or uncheck the box ... but that's definitely where the problem lies.

It would be interesting to hear from someone else using that same aircraft to see if they have the same issues. As a workaround you could just use non interactive calls for those items

Strange..when i created that profile for PMDG 747-400,didn't seem to recall any problems when using it with windows XP,now that i'm on windows 7-64bit...get same issue.
So the only work-around at the mo is to remove anything that says "light"..ie:Beacon,Nav,Taxi etc and use external Lights as a call for now,will take an indepth look sometime soon to see if i can pinpoint the problem,but to be honest...PMDG's 747 as been a very awkward one to work with..
