Something happened to me today on a flight from Basle Mulhouse to Luxembourg: ATC instructed me to descend to 14000. I did and leveled at 14000. Then, about 3 minutes later, I was switched to approach. When I contacted ATC on the new frequency I told the controller that I was descending from 14000 to 10000.

But I was never instructed to do so. What am I missing here?

Did you set the correct Baro setting, maybe you never got down to 14,000 feet as far as PFE was concerned because the pressure difference was so high.
