Hi all,

I'm new on ATC world... I know a little bit of SIDS and Stars, also I can make a departure from an airport, but here is when comes my first problem, both in Pro Flight2000 and Pro Flight Emulator, I set the cruising altitude at 25000 but once in the air, after take off I climb from the initial 12500 then 17000 and then the ATC says to climb to 34000.

This is the first problem. Now I would like to know what happens on approach, I want to land... but I have to contact tower at TOD or they will contact me? Which are the keys and frequencies I have to use to land on an airport? I've been reading and watching tutorials, but I never know what to do to land the plane on the airport with good comunication.

Hope somebody can help.
Thank's a lot!
Roca.

The cruise altitude problem would appear to be something you may have entered incorrectly, but I would need to seeyour flight plan and the debug_monitor.log file from the ...\PFE\Logs folder to ensure it's not a bug.

If you set you VCP mode to #2 or #3 to allow the PNF to change frequencies and handle all com's you will get a better idea on how these things work.

Thank you for your help dmarch,

I will send those files in a private message.
Also, I've set the VCP to number 2, so I don't need to execute or press any key to contact approach right? I ask this because when the ATC tells me to climb at 12000 or 5000 (before take off) once I reach that altitude I don't get any more instructions, but once I reach the first altitude, then I hit the key 0 the pilot says going from 12000 for 17000...

Thank you
Roca.

Hi Roca,

Are you remembering to say Roger by pressing CTRL SHIFT \ when you have been given a instruction by ATC in mode VCP 1? if you don't then you wont hear anything else from ATC if I remember correctly. I find it best to use the hotkey assignment program to change the "Roger" key to just the "\" key on its own, its much more convenient. I also more or less exclusively use VCP2 mode, after all that's what the Pilot Not Flying is supposed to do anyway :D I usually switch from mode 1 to mode 2 just before I ask for push back instructions, then the VCP can take over comms with ATC and I can concentrate on flying. Pressing CTRL Shift and V together toggles between all the different VCP modes whilst in a session.

Thanks for the logs but you're running an unsupported version (2.1) of PFE. The latest version is 2.14.

I would suggest you download/install the cumulative updates right here from the support forum. During the install please stop all other application, especially your virus checker and any other security type product. Also ensure you are logged in as Administrator and if running Vista or Win 7 then you should turn UAC off.
