Hi, I'm having a few issues with PFE.

1. When I reach the departure runway and switch over to the tower frequency I can hear the pilot ask for take-off clearance but more often than not I never hear back from the tower to position and hold or get cleared for take-off. I usually just take-off anyways and then get switched to departure and everything works fine from there until the next problem occurs...

2. I usually won't, but sometimes do, get instructions from center to begin descent with a STAR in use. I usually have to begin the descent regardless at 80 miles out and then ATC complains and tells me to maintain my planned FL until I get switched over to approach. Like I said, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I am using ver. 2.14 with FSX SP2. All waypoint and altitude data entered and start of STAR set. One thing I thought might cause this is perhaps if the last changeable waypoint has the same cruise altitude as your planned FL and PFE isnt recognizing a descent is needed? Also I use CP mode2(Co-pilot handles all comms).
Any help with these issues is appreciated.

Thanks, Bryan.

Your last waypoint should be about 20 miles from the airport. Do your flight plans have this ?

Hi Bryan,

I would need to see the debug_monitor.log file from the ...\PFE\Logs folder because I would guess you have some missing sound files caused by a failed installation.

Peter, the last waypoint in my flight plans is usually... well, the last waypoint in the flight plan lol. Wether that be 100 or 1 mile from the airport. I use FSbuild and export in XML format then use the PFE flight plan converter to get the FP into PF2000. I use real world FP's copied and pasted from Flightaware into FSBuild. When using a STAR I will manually input the altitude data I want to use in the PFE waypoints and altitudes adjustment page. I just made a flight from PANC to VHHH and recieved absolutely ZERO descent or altitude instructions until cleared to final even though I had set the altitude of my last waypoint before the airport to 10,000. This waypoint was about 20 miles out I believe.

Dan, I will try and send you an email if I can with the log file. If not then I will post the whole thing here.

I cant get it into an attachment with my email or paste it here since it is so long. Should I just try re-installing PFE?

Copy it to your desktop then zip it up and attach it to an email.

Thanks for the log... as expected it shows a lot of missing sound files so you obviously had a hiccup during one of the more recent updates.

Please download the accumulative updates package from the 'PFE Manual Installation' post above and install that.... there's no need to uninstall anything first. During the install please ensure you close all other programs you may have running... including your anti-virus and any other security type programs. Then try another flight and if you still have problems please send me another log file.

Yeah, I can confirm that this did not work. This time I recieved no descent instructions and no approach instructions of any kind. I'm going to try a full re-install with Norton completely disabled since I think I had it enabled during the initial install.

Just to be clear, I download the program from simmarket, install, install the cumulative update over the fresh install and then run the auto updater to get to 2.14. Correct?
