Hey Dave,

Installed the latest update. Some feedback. I know there was update to the nagging if the transponder was not set properly, but it starts nagging even though you have not requested clearance.

Thanks again for the work,

Tony J

I'm seeing a similar problem.

Immediately upon connecting to the sim (P3D5), I get the transponder nag followed by the QNH instruction.

For the first couple attempts, the hotkey '0' wouldn't work (I use VCP mode 2 but like to initiate clearance/pb/taxi comms). Even funnier, if I changed frequencies, for instance FSS, it would initiate, but then if I switched back to tower, PF3 Web Display would say "unknown frequency"!

I changed the setting that prompts the VCP to initiate comms upon connection. This appeared to work. I then reset back to the original setting (I initiate comms) and that then appeared to work....however,

I don't hear ATC (MMCZ tower in this case) instructions, nor do they show up on RemoteText. I only know what the instructions were when I hear the VCP reply, and he replies twice. After this things seem to work OK, so far...

Also had a similar issue near TOD when I requested lower; didn't hear a response from Center but the VCP acknowledged a response.

What aircraft are you using? Looks like you should select the new 'Ignore avionics switch' under options #2 / advanced options

Please run the PF3 validation program (Options #2) and let me see the output log... it looks like you may have some missing files

In this case it was the PMDG NGXu.

Ran validation, said no problems were found. Logs attached.

One thing I noted with your previous log is you'd defined and oceanic section and also had a STAR starting within that section. Consequently you were cleared for that STAR whilst still under oceanic control, which of course is incorrect. That in turn lead to you being handed off to an incorrect control center, which doesn't exist, so you didn't hear that call due to an internal error of trying to play a control centre that wasn't there. So. I think I need to prevent being able to create a STAR entry within an oceanic section and that, I think, will cure the problem you experienced.

Hi. The very first thing I noticed having updated to the new version yesterday is that, even before I am settled in the cockpit and turn on any batteries or avionics, PF3 starts nagging me to check my transponder. (How is ATC even contacting me, from a real-world perspective at least, when the a/c is still cold and dark?). Checking the transponder code is something that is already integrated into all my flight setup procedures and I really, really would like to turn this nag off. I tried, as you advised Dave, selecting 'ignore avionics switch' but I get the nag just the same.

I was hoping that there would be a specific checkbox for this somewhere in the options tabs, but I guess there isn't one :-( So now I am hoping instead that there's some other way (edit an ini file?? edit a wav file??) to turn this new 'feature' off. Or that you can add such an option very soon... :-)

Thanks in advance.

I'm getting the transponder nag as well, but it's not until I tune in one of the ATC frequencies, like ground or tower. But it happens as soon as I tune that frequency. I'd hope there's a way to adjust the nag to wait until after clearance but if not, I'll just set the code they are nagging me to set.

PF3 autotunes my radio at the start, so I get the nag cold & dark, before I turn on any power in the a/c. In fact, I have returned to the previous version of PF3 until there is an option to turn this nag off. :-)

Part of my problem in this particular case seems to be that MMCZ does not have a clearance frequency, as I have not received this issue at any other airport since (all of which have had clearance freqs). Incidentally, today I departed TJSJ, which does have clearance (and auto-tunes to it). I somehow ended up with a "unknown frequency" message in Web Display (seems to happen sometimes) so I started playing around with frequencies. It was able to connect to Tower, I got the nags, and then it wouldn't connect to anything else. For whatever reason, the old standby solution of "quit and restart" worked and everything proceeded as normal afterwards.

As for the Oceanic vs. STAR, that's not how I had it set. I've been having issues with Oceanic not releasing me to Center at the designated time, but I'll put that in another thread.
