Hi, I was on my way from EGLL to BIKF with the 727 using an INS, so I was not able to follow any STAR.
Therefore NASBU was my last waypoint for my flight and I set the altitude for NASBU to 16000 on the PF3 flightplan page. The center did not give me any descent instructions at all and just handed me over to the approach after I reached NASBU while I was still at 34000ft. The approach sent me left and right and left and right and cleared me for the ILS RW10 while I was still 10000ft too high. I already descended with full speedbrakes...

Can anyone help me out, please, how to avoid getting too late descent instructions?

Thanks in advance

At 82 miles from NASBU you received the following from ATC
Quote:
03/11/2022 13:46:49: 480 - Transcript: 'IceAir 451 Descend to Flight Level 190 when ready '
Ten minutes later, when you reached NASBU you were still at FL340 !! :o

Oops, that must have been the moment where I was on the toilet haha. But why did he never call me back? And why doesn't the approach vector me in circles to loose height and why does the approach clear me for final when I am clearly unstable, please?

Had it been a normal 'descend to...' instruction you would have been nagged but because it was a 'when you're ready call...' you weren't

No we don't do that so you really need to stay alert and listen to ATC as you would in the real world

If you're unable to land safely you should go-around

Oh okay. So is it possible to read the last few transmissions so I don't miss my descent call when I have to use the bathroom, please?

Thank you so much for your help and support, I just applied those setting and now I am able to read the last transmissions, hopefully I will be able to avoid those issues in the future :)

Sincere Greetings
Alex
