I've literally just finished and it all went fine. I didn't change your flight plan at all. After contacting approach I was given Rwy 10 to land but requested 19L. After a short while I was instructed to descend to 3,000. So I'm a little stumped as to why you don't get descent instructions. I'll have to take a closer look at your log

Just noticed, the last log file you attached was ended before takeoff, so not much use I'm afraid

I noticed the following from the log, which looks odd indeed

PF FAF Alt set to 1000
User adjusted FAF Alt set to 19000

I would do the following: Options #2, Advanced Options, set FAF altitude (Approach section, at left) at 3000, which is the default. On the SID/STAR page, enter KTPA for the airport settings and make sure the minimum FAF altitude setting for the airport (lower right) is 0 so the default setting of 3000 will be used. Then retry the flight and see if that sorts it.

Hi Dave/Dan,
I adjusted the settings per Dan's advice and reflew. Still no descent instructions. Attached log should reflect that. Note that I didn't get any NOTAM to use SIDS/STARS so those were checked to insure 0 Altitude but I left them off. Would I need to have them on? Seems unlikely. Hopefully this last log will provide some clues.

Okay, a couple of things.

First, please update to the latest version of PF3. If the 'Check for Updates' options tells you there are no updates then please download and install the latest cumulative updates package from the 'Maintenance' post above

Second, Dan did advise you to check the airports minimum FAF, but I don't think you checked it. It's currently set to 19,000. You need to change this on the SIDs/STARs page. You type in the airport's ICAO and then change the value just below where you type the ICAO

I believe that will fix your issue

Thank you Dave & Dan for resolving this issue. All works well now. Under what cicumstances do "Request Vectors or Request an instrument Approach" give me a response othe then "Unable at this time". I have checked the proper ATC connection (ie Tower or Approach) when I try to use these HotKeys

Hi,
I have a similar problem because I don't receive the descent instruction when I am close the T/D point in IFR flight. The initial clearance instructions are correct as far as at the T/D. Then nothing descent.
If I descent, PF3 ask me for mainaining the cruise level and I should climb but so I couldn't landing to the final destination.

What is wrong in my setup?

Best Regard
Franco Lorenzini

I can't see anything wrong with your setup... just pilot error. You began your decent before ATC told you to. Why would you do that? And then when they nagged you to maintain FL 360 you ignored them!
