i have this static noise too on several flights with PF3. It can only be ended by shutdown Pf3. Very anoying. I just had that on my last flight from EDDN to LOWW. Please find attached my logs from that flight. I can´t say when it started beccause i stepped out for a minute and when i cam back that noise was appearing.

P.S. It doesn´t help to untick "play background noise" or "static noise". This anoying static noise appears even then.

I haven't encountered it in a while. Doesn't mean it's gone, though.

hi Dave, i´am using PF3 with MCE only usually. Could it be caused by MCE somehow? What about the others who encountered this anoying sound? Do you use MCE?

I experienced this a little today and it seemed to be because I tuned to the incorrect frequency. Flying around northern Canada, I was directed to tune to Anchorage Centre on 132.8 but I missed the call so looked at the PF_display to see the Centre frequency which quoted 132.9. When I tuned to 132.9 I got the static. When I started the flight again, I realised what had happened and tuned to 132.8 and all was fine.

I encountered this exactly as reported yesterday and today hence tonight I was looking in support to see if anyone else has reported it. I also use MCE. My flight today was from Chicago to Miami. I am aware that I only noticed that on both occasions well into the descent. As reported it does not respond to adjusting sound settings and can only be stopped by exiting Pf3. I have the latest upgrade a week or two back. I realize this does not assist resolution but confirms it is real, constant and dis-proportionately loud. I will try to take note and attach a the log if/when I experience it again.

Thanks for the update. I have no doubt it's 'real' but I've been unable to recreate it or get to the bottom of what's triggering it. Should you experience it again please try tuning to a nearby ATIS to see if that stops it. I'd be interested to know the results.

I am also getting excessive static from ATC. I did as you suggested and tuned in a nearby ATIS frequency. All I hear was static on that channel, but it has cleared up some of the static subsequently. Thanks.

If it's just the background noise during ATC transmissions you're talking about then you can adjust the level of that in the main options area. This post is actually about static noise without any transmission.
