Hi Dave,

I'm grounded with a, what seems, messed up installation of PFE 2.12.0

Background story:

Not long ago I set up my computer with a fresh install of everything: Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit, FS X with SP1 and SP2, FSUIPC 4, PFE with additional voicepacks and the 2nd free expansion pack. I manually updated PFE to the latest 2.12.0 build. It worked.

Came the day I installed Orbx Pacific Northwest. I didn't rebuild the runway data immediately and continued using PFE for a couple of flights.

Then, I decided to update PFE's database to match my custom scenery. Followed instructions to the "."

Filed a new flightplan, converted, compiled, connected to FS: "PFE seems to encounter a problem and disconnects" or something similiar. A pop-up reminded me to rebuild the database.

I did like instructed, connected, same error message, same pop-up with instructions to rebuild database.

I supposed something messed up PFE and removed it together with the voicepacks. Reinstalled everything, updated to 2.12.0.

I encountered the same problems all over again and received the same error messages again and again.

I deinstalled everything once more. Reinstalled PFE without the additional voice packs. Updated to the latest version.

Now, when I try to start PF2000 for compiling a flight plan, it starts up and quits with "runtime error 13 type mismatch". It never did this before.

In PFE, I cannot choose a pilot's voice ("none" is displayed and can't be changed).

Tried your instructions to rectify a bad installation. My folder is missing the XInstall3 file. I only got the XInstall2 ( I used that instead of the mentioned version to no avail.)

So, I'm out of clues for the moment and hope you can get me up and running again.

PS: I thought of the custom scenery maybe being the problem but it compiles and works just fine with Radar Contact 4 which also relies on makerwys.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,
just a couple of things,

1:Did you also delete the PFE folder after uninstalling it first...
2:Also you could goto Installshield folder and delete the PFE,and PFE Voicepacks entry there after you have uninstalled it.
To find installshield folder you will need to turn it on first...

Try this and then re-install again,

Hi "other" Dave,

followed your advise: complete deinstall, removed folders, repaired registry, reinstalled everything, updated, works.

The only thing not installing correctly (installer freezes) is the free voices expansion pack #2.

Thanks a lot for pointing me into the right direction.

At what point does it freeze?

It froze while decompressing part 1 or so.

Now, I copied over once more the needed files into the updates folder and it installed.

So, for now I'm set.

Thanks.
