Not sure why. I ended up improvising a holding at Charlie (CHA) VOR which is about 15 NM from EDDF, and using C+S+9 until I reached 5000 then I exited the hold and everything went back to normal from there, got radar vectors to final. Approach as always waits till I am about 15 NM from last waypoint (which in my case was on downwind abeam the airport) to tell me which runway to expect, then the approach briefing is almost impossible to perform in a timely and safely manner. My suggestion is, do it right on initial contact with approach, why the wait? IT MAKES NO SENSE TO DELAY THIS INFO, ATC knows already especially approach even before you contact them and is a safety issue to delay it!!!!

Hope you guys agree and consider this for the new upgrade,
i.e.:
"Approach good evening, XYZ with you FL70 with Quebec"
"XYZ good evening, altimeter 1015 expect radar vectors for ILS 07C fly heading 120 descend to FL 60"
Now if this happens about 30 miles out (from the airport better than from the last waypoint.. in some cases), much better. Usually by then you already have the ATIS info, and you briefed the STAR and approach options, but you still need to program the FMS and brief the assigned IFR approach and MA.
