Thought I would take the first leg of the trip illustrated in this month's PC Pilot Magazine. Bit of a mistake really. I'd forgotton how truly awful the default scenery is! I'll not bother to take the following legs. Shame really because for a change the Alaska weather was really beautiful.

However, just to let you know, there was no Taxi Guidance System at the departure airport. Not a problem really as the route to the runway was obvious but I thought you would want to know.

The TGS worked fine at Kodiak, so its not, repeat not my fault! ;)

By the way, unless you're feeling suicidal don't try to land on runway 7 at Kodiak!

Were you using the default afcad for PANC or an add-on? Even in the default I can see a number of problems with split taxiways crossing runways. Some cross the runways and some don't. Tiny errors in the afcad can throw the TGS. e.g. LIMZ has one active taxiway Alpha that goes from the terminal direct to the central division between rwy 03-21. Thereafter you taxi down the runway. If the take-off is from rwy 03 PF3 TGS says "Taxi to rwy 03 via Alpha". However, if the take-off rwy is 21 PF3 TGS says "Taxi to rwy 21 via taxiway". I have never solved this, seeing as in both cases only one taxiway is used. That being Alpha.

I'm not sure if Orbx FTX Global had any influence on the airport Voliberista. Certainly, I didn't notice any of the discrepancies you mention about Stevens. Mind you, I might not have simply because from where I was parked, all I had to do was reverse out and turn on to the taxiway running almost parallel to my take off runway 4. Its such a busy place, I didn't know you were supposed to taxi on the runway.

My co-pilot had no trouble at the holding point in getting clearance to 'take-orff' as she says.

As I said it was easy enough although I didn't appreciate a bloody great air freight 'plane nosing out in front of me from the right and pinching what should have been my slot! Incidentally, that got clearance to take off from the same spot as me so if I was wrong so was he/she.

To stop AI nosing out change the conflict monitor speed in options2 advanced options and ini tweaks. I have mine set very low to 5kts. Essential at a very busy airport. On my system I closed VHHH and diverted all traffic to VHHX to simulate just how busy it was. It has been suggested in the beta forum to change the conflict monitor a bit so that no settings apply in an arc from 12 o'clock to half past three. This would then comply with the give way rule in aviation. Sadly in your case you would have had give way in real life!! As the give way rule applies if there are no ATC instructions.
