Gents,

I increased my airliner traffic slider to 70% and it did make a difference in that on Sydney Approach I got one AI aircraft transmission and controller response and then the same AI contacted the Tower when I was on short final.

It seems that because there seems to be only one Centre Frequency for the whole flight, combined with the AI reality bubble, the radio goes quiet shortly after transferring to Centre because there is no other sector to transfer the aircraft to, or from which to enter my sector.

I don't know if Australia comes with just one generic Centre Frequency (there is no Melbourne or Brisbane Centre in the Control Centre Mapping screen). If AI Chatter has purposely been toned down for approach then perhaps my experience as a person who really only flies in Australia then AI Chatter stopping on climb for the rest of flight seems to be a design outcome.

I did get a Q400 departing Sydney whilst I was on Approach pass right in front of me with my TCAS going off without a traffic advisory so I need to perhaps look at my setting there (it must be default as I have not touched that).

Every cloud has a silver lining though and I have learnt I can run AI at 70% without any performance issue in my normal area of operation!

Kind regards,

Mark
Stating the obvious. If real traffic is busy on a specific route one can't automatically expect the AI to be. It all depends on the AI package or whether you have adjusted the AI flightplans to match.

No it does not, there are at least 6 control areas covering Auz Terra Firma, each with a different frequency. :)

Dave, thank you for letting me know.

Perhaps if you ever update the product I am happy to help as to where the frequency boundaries are in Australia. I can provide my credentials privately in this arena.

Now that I understand more as to how PF3 is set up, I can work with that.

I have both My Traffic Professional 6a and the FTX Australian AI package and both reflect quite accurate real world schedules and I have a lot of traffic in both directions but I get what is happening now, at least on the Melbourne Sydney route which is my go to trip to try stuff (and to have a quick fly once kids go to bed!).

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

If you want to supply me with the information/map of such I will see what I can do. Changing boundaries is certainly something I'd be happy to do sooner rather than later but of course this would not include new voice files being recorded as that, as you can imagine, is a huge task to undertake, seeing as we have over 100 different voice set authors, many of which would probably not even be contactable now. But setting things up so you are handed off from one controller to another would be doable.

You may want to do some flying in different regions to see if there is a difference in chatter. Also I'm still puzzling over your FSUIPC "restarting traffic scanning due to non-reception" log message, which does not seem normal, but it sounds as if you've been in touch with Pete regarding it.

Gents,

Thank you for the continuing contributions.

Pete explained to me what the log message means, why it comes up, what FSUIPC does in that situation and how I can test everything is working.

I have followed his sage advice and everything has checked out and for now, I have also reverted my [Traffic] options in the FSUIPC.ini to default (not on Pete's suggestion - I did that before he replied) and I have not had that message occur again.

Looking at the boundary map, I can see why I probably get what I get, which is fine as it means I don't have a problem to solve with my set up and you don't have a problem to solve with the software. I can contribute to making my area of the world a little closer to how it is actually set up and I will turn my attention to that in due course.

Meanwhile I will fly a bit more in accordance with boundary map and get a better feel for things now that I am not trying to solve a possible computer issue or conflict.

Kind regards,

Mark
