Dave, this is not a criticism rather an observation. I have hold percentage set at 90% in the options area but the whole time I have been using PFE, I have never been requested to hold when enroute to an airport. I thought by raising the percentage to 90 that I would cop the occasional hold, but this hasn't been the case.

Also in the next version can we have a direct to request and a request to an airport of our choosing in the case of an emergency.
I think this is the best ATC program at this point in time and I look forward to the next update/version.

Thanks mate

Andrew Dixon

Hi Andrew,

Please try setting the hold percentage to 100% and let me know what happens

With regard the Direct to.... you already have that facility for any waypoint in the flight plan and I've just added the 'Direct to Airport' to my list ;-)

Dave,
I will give that a go and set to 100% and see what happens.
The direct to request would be used during a flight to say, cut accross a dog leg in the original plan to make the trip shorter?

Thanks again

Andrew Dixon :P

So does the current feature not work in that situation?

Dave, excuse my ignorance, but which key would allow me to request direct to a particular waypoint in the flightplan? In the PFE display I can't see a direct to request.

From the user manual ;-)

8.48 Requesting ‘Direct to…’

Yes, new to version 2.11 you may now request ATC to approve a ‘direct to’
any waypoint in your flight plan. This feature is activated using the same
hotkey as you use to toggle ground AI traffic detection on/off (the default key
being C\S\D). However, this original hotkey is only available whilst your
aircraft is on the ground... once airborne this key is then used to request a
'Direct To' waypoint. Hitting this key during your flight will not display the
next waypoint in your flight plan, as you should already be heading toward
that one <G>, but the one following the next one. The message window
display will also prompt you to select ‘Y’ (C\S\Y) or ‘N’ (C\S\N).

If you choose No then the next waypoint in the flight plan will be displayed
with the same options.

Choosing yes you will hear "Call sign requesting direct to XXX" and ATC will
reply accordingly.

This feature is subject to a few conditions.
(a) It is only available when you're airborne
(b) It is only available until you're actually on route to the last waypoint in
your flight plan (not the airport)
(c) It is not available until after you receive your final vector from Departure
and a 'Resume own navigation'
(d) It is not available during Oceanic procedures

Thanks mate. Looks like I've got a bit of reading to do.

One thing I forgot to mention in my last post.... with any such changes to hotkeys' etc, you won't find them automatically updated to your PFE Display... that I leave to you as it would be almost impossible for me to update it. For one you can choose where you install it and also you may well have changed the hotkeys you use and may even have added you own description text which I would not wish to overwrite.

Dave, regarding never being placed in a holding pattern, I set it to 100% and still am never requested to hold. As you can see the original post was submitted in February so I have completed many flights with PFE since then with the same result.
Thanks

Hi Andrew,

Well I never use that feature myself but I know some that do so perhaps they could confirm that the feature does still work and that I haven't broken anything in 2.14.

You are using 2.14 aren't you?
