I realise this is probably a bit of a cheek to ask here but help from Saitek is pretty well non existant these days so I thought maybe you wouldn't mind?

My old Saitek Joystick and Throttle Quadrant finally gave up the ghost about a month ago and I replaced them with the well recommended X52Pro' system and very good it is too.

However, the one thing I can't seem to adjust correctly is the Throttle and that manifests itself in my not being able to close it right down all the way which means in turn that with some aircraft despite flaps, feather and decreasing rpm, some the aircraft are often still going too fast for me to land them safely. A couple in question are the Virtual Col emb 190-3 and saab 2000.

Any chance of any of you geniuses being able to give me chapter and verse on how to adjust the X52 Pro Fligfht Controller Properties settings to allow this to happen please?

Many thanks.

John

Maybe it just needs calibration?
Alternatively (and that is the solution I'm using for all my controllers in FSX) you can disable all joysticks in your flight simulator and configure and calibrate them using FSUIPC.

John, do you mean that when you have the X52 throttles at idle, the throttles in the aircraft are not also at idle? You can double-check in the Game Controllers window: go to C:\Windows\System32 folder and find the file joy.cpl and double-click it. Or in Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Devices and Printers, right-click the X52 controller and choose 'Game Controller settings'.

When you move the X52 you should see that the Z Axis is fully white with the throttle at idle and fully red at full throttle. If so, it is doubtful it's an X52 problem. If not, check the deadzones in the next tab, you might need to adjust them..

Just for the record, I got good support for the X52 from Mad Catz... they didn't manage to fix my issue but they kept trying with emails and eventually replaced my X52 for a brand new one when they thought it was a hardware issue, even paying the fees for collection and delivery (turned out to be a software problem though, which I have managed to patch, but not fix: if you find the X52 isn't centred properly and aircraft turn to the left or right after landing, post back here).

Incidentally, make sure you don't have USB3 active on the same PC on which you connect the X52. It was the cause of my BSOD2 - Saitek are aware of this but don't seem to want to issue a software fix. You'll find stuff on Google about this too.

Thanks fellers. Yes, it was the dead zone that needed adjusting. I had adjusted all of them except the actual 'Z' one and didn't even notice it!

I can be such an idiot at times.

Yes, well, it has certainly given me more control but I still can't get the 'planes to slow down. In fact they're going faster on what is supposed to be touch down than when they're on the glide slope!

I'm going to give up on the Virtual Col Saab Regional aircraft. They're quite resonable in every way except that business of speeding up when coming into land. They definitely want to fly and keep trying to get back up so it makes landing a nightmare even on auto-pilot. They just will not come down!

Ah well. Waste of money. :(

The Virftual Col technical department came up trumps with the problems I had with landing their 900 and 2000 aircraft. No matter what I did I couldn't get the throttle lever to close sufficiently. I have now assigned the bottom right hand wheel on the throttle to reduce throttle and that seems so over-ride the actual throttle lever.

It's just one extra thing to worry about when landing!

I only have the Jetstream 32 from VCol - I didn't notice any issues with this when I last flew it, but I'll keep an eye out for any throttle problems next time I load it up...
