so the waypoint i put in the red box just tells PF3 when to pick me back up? And what I put in the star box tells PF3 when to leave me alone? (as far as vectors)
Yes, pretty much. As far as SIDs are concerned PF3 will track all the SID waypoints in your fpl but leave you alone to fly them if you have checked the SIds (DPs) Active box. If that box is unchecked then PF3 will assume you need vectors to your End of SID.
STARs are a little more problematic in that PF3 assumes with STARS active box checked that your last fpl waypoint is also the End of STAR. This sometimes leads to the need for two fpls. One for PF3 and one for your a/c navigation system where an approach is needed to avoid high ground. A good example of this is the approach to Los Rodeos. ORTIS 1L from Madeira finishes at TFN but from there you have to turn left and fly around the island in order to join the localiser approach for rwy 30.
If PF3 allowed an End of STAR to be annotated before the last fpl waypoint then PF3 could then subsequently correctly vector you around obstacles such as mountains etc.

For now I don't mind if PF3 cuts off vectors commands from take off through SID, and beginning of STAR. The plane will be following the SID/STAR vectors I programmed in the FMC anyway so I won't need to be instructed...but I still need hand-offs and clearances...

no joy on WLSTN6....
The image is blocked by default on Firefox:
"This web page at www.freeuploadsite.com has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences."

When looking at it anyway, I see:
1. You haven't selected the lower radio button: "If no SID (DP) name entered use"
2. No need to enter an ICAO code for your departure airport, but then you should not press Enter either to avoid the error message because you did not enter an ICAO code.
