Hi all!

I purchased PF3 few days ago, and after few test flights I must say that I'm slightly disappointed. As a very satisfied user of PFE, there are some "issues" with PF3 that really bothers me simply because I had no similiar issues in PFE.

First of all I can't find an option to disable hearing AI communication. In PFE there is "Use PFE's AI Traffic based ATC chatter" option included, and I always leaving it unticked because I love to play real life atc recordings in the background while flying.

Also, the presence of robot voices is a big minus in PF3, and I'm still not sure why developers included them? Advantage of PFE is the quality of enhanced voice sets, they don't sound robot like. In PF3 all that advantage will sink down the drain only because of presence of robot voices. In PFE there is also an option to enable only ENHANCED voice sets, and with that checked you will automatically exclude robot voices. Why there is no such option in PF3? Is there a chance we can expect something similiar in the future? To be honest, catching robot voices IDs is not practical at all, there will be bunch of situations when I will be busy with flying or monitoring, no chance to catch and see voice ID and write it.

Currently, I'm thinking to ask for a refund because these two "issues" annoys me more than a fact that PF3 is better and upgraded version of PFE, and currently I don't see any advantages compared to PFE, except the lack of fiddling with PF2000 and generally the simplicity of setting up a flight (not worth it in my opinion).

Thank you in advance for answers!

Cheers!

...that in itself, for me, was enough reason to go from PFE (which I also had been using for a long time) to PF3.

Dave will I am sure answer your points, but I'd definitely say stick with PF3 - it's currently being updated very regularly and Dave is nothing if not dedicated to giving customers what they want, if at all possible - so your patience may well be rewarded! :D

Oh, you are right, there is no option to disable AI chat (besides turning of AI in the flight sim). But this sounds easy to implement.

You can exclude all voice sets that you don't like in Options #2 (Exclude Individual Voices) so you don't have to hear them again.
There are other threads here discussing this topic and the opinions vary: For some users some of the voices are too robotic while for other users the same voices sound good. I certainly understand this problem as I do not like all voices, too. But I just disabled those three and am happy now :)

You can get a preview of each of the voices when selecting a pilot voice on the Options #1 screen. It is only a short clip but should be enough to pinpoint the voices you particularly dislike, and you can then disable them using the feature on the Options #2 screen.

PFE ATC Chatter percentage was in PFE but not in PF3. So Dave will have to consider whether it is worth re-implementing or not. As for robotic voices, PF3 is the least robotic of all the ATC add-ons and should not be "sweepingly" accused of being such! Whilst there are a handful robotic sounding voices out of 119, they are very much in the minority and as has been said can be easily disabled.

For a more realistic ATC experience make sure the following are checked:-
Options#1
Faster ATC Taxi Instructions
Faster Readback of Taxi Instructions
Radio noise vol variation
Simulate Radio Coms
Options#2
Exclude Individual Voices. for the voices that you cannot bear to listen to.

Well, I just made a list of all robot voices, and went to Option #2 -> Exclude Individual Voices and hit the wall because of voice sets IDs. So now there is no other way to recognise the voice set except to follow voice sets IDs during the flight and write them. So frustrating. Why in exclude individual voices are not listed by Asian Pilot #, German Pilot #, etc?

Folder A - African - Voices: 6
Folder B - Arabian - Voices: 2
Folder C - Asian - Voices: 7
Folder D - Australian - Voices: 5
Folder E - British - Voices: 25
Folder F - Canadian - Voices: 3
Folder G - Caribbean - Voices: 1
Folder H - Dutch - Voices: 4
Folder I - French - Voices: 2
Folder J - French Canadian - Voices: 0
Folder K - German - Voices: 5
Folder L - Greek - Voices: 1
Folder M - Hindi - Voices: 7

German Pilot #3 would be folder K, voice C.

Or you could simply browse the folders below PF3/Wav:
File PF3/Wav/RadF/pfchat144C.wav would be German Pilot #3 with Radio distortions saying:
Radar service terminated. Squawk 1200, change to advisory frequency approved
(and yes, I have excluded him despite not being robotic :))

If you want to hear a different phrase, you could look at PF3/captions.ini for the mapping between e.g. above phrase and "pfchat144", which just gets C.wav apended for voice C.
StdK would have the German pilots without radio distortions, i.e. when being used as your (or your VCP's) or TGS voice.

Yes, I did it exactly that way, browsing the samples. Cheers!
