Do you have TGS enabled? While TGS is active, closed captions are supressed, and I think this will affect remote text, too.

Maybe there is a modal popup dialog somewhere hidden off-screen or below another window?

FSUIPC offers a certain number of hotkey slots to be used by other add-ons, I think 56 slots. PF3 uses 22 of these slots (by default, you can remove some hotkeys if you don't need them, e.g. I have removed Ctrl-Shift-C for Close Caption Mode), so only 34 hotkey slots are available for other add-ons....
