I have read the section of the manual over several times and I just don't understand the concept behind setting the presets in the "Select a Flightplan Window"
Does setting the approach speed impact the value you can set in the "Advanced Options and ini File Tweaks"?
Do the climb/descent rate settings and the runway length impact the ATC instructions given?

Started looking more closely at this when I was changing from a flight with my Realair Duke V2 to my ifly737.
Originally thought it was an easy way to switch between aircraft without having to go through changing the different settings for each type of aircraft. Now I'm not to sure.

On another note. With the 737 I used the push and start option. After I was told to push and start I used the default shift-p to push me back from the gate after receiving instruction to do so from ATC. After that I could not get ground to talk to me. Maybe I should have used the push back from within Ifly. I realize there is not push back function so not sure what I did wrong. It was my first attempt at using the push back so will try again but any advice would be appreciated on this too.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave

Using a preset final approach speed will override any setting you have made in the tweaks section.

The climb descent settings will affect how/when ATC gives you altitude change instructions. eg a low descent rate will mean you should get earlier clearance. I find that one preset works fine for most jets, and one setting works fine for turboprops. There is no need to set one up for each aircraft.

The runway length is used if you need to divert after declaring an emergency. It is there so that you will not be diverted to an airport with a short runway if flying a heavy for example.

The pushback method you use is totally up to you. You should contact ground after push and start and request taxi permission. They will tell you your taxi route, if you continue to have problems you should attach the log files.

Thanks for the quick reply.
That sounds terrific. Will experiment again with push back.

thanks

Try the speed presets recommended in the user guide. ATC generally treat jet transports all the same for normal operations.
So your minimum speed in the preset would be 160. ATC should slow you down at least twice, (160kts) being the final speed call in this example. Thus leaving you to reduce speed to your Vat which is dependant on your weight and weather conditions at about 4-6DME.
