This will be in the next release and a copy is attached for you to try, but of course it doesn't cure the FDC issue, which is really weird.
ADDED the means by which you can now turn off all messages displayed from TGS (the Taxi Guidance System). This follows a user request so it is not the default and you have to manually change the PF3.INI file as follows.

Under the [TGS] section add the following line

NoDisplayMessages=1

Under the same section check the Captions entry which should already be set to 0

Captions=0

Thanks, Dave, yes it works as designed, but sadly my blinking issue persists. :)

Well I'd like to have another go at sorting that. I seem to remember I was able to partly recreate it but my gauge didn't disappear it was just the text and it only happens when running FDC and PF3 together, is that correct?

That's kind of you to offer to look at it.

Yes, it is using FDC and PF3 together, specifically:
  • The TGS gauge pointer blinks off, then on again at intervals during taxi
  • The read-out and responses to FDC's Taxi Checks and After Landing Checks are slower to call and respond (noticeable pauses) - in other words whilst taxying with the TGS gauge active.
  • The text displays are not a factor in this
As I said I am on FS2004, whether that is the significant factor I couldn't say. I guess it could be other background software interfering, such as anti-virus, although I have switched from one AV to another since the issue first arose. Do let me know if there is anything you want me to check on that front. Operating system is Windows 10 Home.

I did a couple of tests for my own satisfaction yesterday - behaviour does not seem to vary noticeably whether at busy or quiet airports AI-wise, nor complex vs simple airport layouts.

Best regards,

John

Hi John,

Well here's the fix for your blinking TGS gauge... well, not really a fix, more of a fudge. :o

Just replace your existing Flightdeck_Companion.exe (3.14.2) file with this version (3.14.3)

This will only work if:

(a) you're NOT using the XR Controller utility that comes with FDC

(b) you add the following to the [Config] section of the FDC.INI file

NoXRController=1

If you are using the XR Controller then there's not much I can do unfortunately as the TGS Gauge and TGS Display are using a couple of bytes of reserved memory that the XR Controller uses. I could change TGS Display of course but not the gauge, as I don't have the source code and I'm not a gauge programmer. ;)

Please let me know how this works and I'll add it to the FDC forum in case there are others experiencing the same issue.

Wow! I'm having trouble keeping up!

That looks excellent - successful flight/taxying completed and not a blinking problem to be seen, ha ha.

Really grateful for that.

John

PS - never heard of an XR controller - I looked it up to find it is "a high-level, component-based, interaction system" and am still none the wiser. :shock:

Sorry, my bad, it's not 'XR Controller' it's 'Controller XR'. It's a utility that comes with FDC and allows you to setup joystick button assignments dependant on the current mode of flight. It's all in the user guide.

Glad the blinking has stopped

By the way, did it also cure your slow checklists during taxi?

Yes it did, thanks! Everything seems more perfect than ever.
