Flying vfr

flight plan from yech to ymmb contacted fss to ask them to open my flight plan, replied we open it up in 2 waited for about 10 minutes still nothing pressed 0 again to see what happens a nd the reply was we open it up in 20 so question is how long is 2 2 minutes or 20 minutes?

This means that they open your flight plan and expect you to take off by then, so they can make an estimation about when to call emergency services when they don't hear back from you.
You won't get a separate clearance at an uncontrolled airport, but don't forget to tune to unicom/multicom to announce your actions.
If there is a tower frequency, you need to contact them (or clearance or ground before that if available).

Don't worry, you can extend your ETA with hotkey #2 while being in contact with FSS.

But don't forget to close the flight plan at your destination, otherwise you would have to pay for the rescue service :lol:

I just verified this one. The message is e.g.:
"Roger. We'll open your flight plan at 29"
Which means "now", in my example 29 minutes after the full hour, e.g. 10:29 for me some minutes ago (CEST), or 8:29 if we talk in UTC. Dropping the hour has the benefit of not needing to worry about the time zone most of the time (there are some time zones where this does not work though, because they don't have a full-hours offset from UTC).

I know, the "in" part was from Pete, the "at" part from me (and from PF3 during VFR operations).
It seems that since some update of the forum software the author of quoted text can no longer be seen directly.
