I hold the L key, press a number like 7, to descent 7,000 feet, release the number, and then the L key. Almost always, it tells me to stay at that altitude I am presently at. Take me 4 or 5 tries to get clearance to a lower altitude.

Am I doing something wrong?

I think it's just a keying/timing/ issue... which is probably the same reason why you posted this three times!!

I've just been testing it here and it works every time without fail. You can't wait too long between holding down the L/H key and pressing the numeric key otherwise it's assumed there's no second key on its way.

I don't know if my memory is getting worse as I get older...
...I just can't remember how it used to be!
