What is the best way to reinstall? Install the original file I downloaded when I first bought PF3 and then update? Or download the latest version?

Have you changed the settings under winds tab in fsuipc? If you had just change them back to defaults and try.

How far were you from the destination? PF3 reads the weather from the simulator not what the weather addon. Active sky is known to inject the destination weather only when you are close to it. From my personal experience, FSGW will inject it way further(130nm), FSWX(freeware) aswell.

But now with the new PF3's feature you can ask for reassignment once you landed and set it in PF3. If you are using GSX, you can check if the gate as available in the air just before landing. The only solution is to use other add ons like fscaptain which is a great airline simulator. It will assign you a gate according to your airline and it will remove any AI planes parked at that gate or assign you another one if the original one is occupied depending on your settings.
