Post subject:  A Couple of PFE Queries - please

Hello,

I have a couple of queries using PFE deluxe that hopefully someone can assist with. The first concerns the ATC voice accents - I constantly seem to get a Japanese air controller when I’m within European airspace - very irritating! Is there some way of keeping to the appropriate European voices when in European airspace please.

Also, concerning the TGS Gauge. I have installed it & can see it clearly on 'cockpit view', but it remains black & doesn’t work. I realize that it isn’t intended for use on a Virtual Cockpit (I fly PMDG Jetstream 4100) – but I am wondering if it can be activated & is there is a ‘workaround’ for this? If so It would be very useful.

Hope you can help Thankyou

Hi Ian,
you can eliminate voices or reduce the amount of times you hear certain voices from within the Voices options buttons on Options#2(exclude and Adjust region accents used...2 buttons) you will need to read the document for further info..

As for the TGS gauge, have you tried reloading your aircraft within FS to get the gauge to show,3rd party aircraft can be problematic at times.

If you want the gauge to show in all views(VC,Spot etc) click on Views from menu bar, instrument panel...scroll down to you see TGS,put tick next to it and it will show in all views..

Hi Dave,

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly, Its really appreciated. I'm sure I can sort out the voice problem now.

I probably didn't make myself clear about the TGS Gauge. I can see it OK when I click into cockpit view etc. I take your point about changing the view etc -But my problem is that the gauge is black & totally dead - it doesn't function at all !! I've read other posts about being informed that TGS is active etc or using a hotkey, but my gauge is lifeless - Could the installation be at fault? Or is there some method of activating it - that i've missed?. Can it work at all with a VC cockpit - in principle? I'm fairly new to PFE (by the way its a great programme)

Thanks again

Have you installed the gauge as per my tutorial using co-ordinates 000,000 (Fixed into panel)

This puts the gauge in the top left hand corner of your screen so it seems to use less resources and as a stronger chance of loading up when your aircraft is loaded.

Try that and let us know how you get on please...

Hello Dave,

Thanks for your response. I have installed the gauge according to the User Instructions Manual as follows ":3.3.3 Install the gauge into a window for a 3rd party aircraft in FSX"

I have looked into the panel cfg & can't see any reference to 'co-ordinates 000,000' in my TGS installation . It isn't installed in the VC cockpit section of the .cfg, but just above that ( i.e window titles) Perhaps this is not the correct placement - can you please advise ( I'm not overly technical so please bear with me)

Thanks

Ianzee

The gauge will only become active if/when you receive full taxi instructions. Is that what you're getting or does atc just say ' taxi to runway x' ?

Hi there,

The only instructions I get is 'Taxi to runway X'.

Are you able to confirm if the gauge installation method I used (as per my last post) is Ok?

Many thanks

If they are the taxi instructions it is because

(a) you are not parked at a recognised gate

(b) you are already at or near the active runway

(c) pfe could not determine an unbroken path of taxiways from your current position to the active

And that's just off the top of my head!

Either way,.the taxi gauge would not be activated

With regard to Dave's post above I have found that if the route to the rwy threshold has undesignated taxiways then you will also get the "Taxi to rwy" instruction. So check that every taxiways is designated. also re run makerwys.
