Post subject:  I've solved my problems with PFE - hope I can help somebody

Hello,
some time ago I bougth PFE and was I was really impressed by the quality of the program.
The voices are fantastic and the great point over other ATCs is that it simulates quite well the VFR rules (other very good ATCs have only IFR or seems developed mainly for it).
Immediately after I had several problems with PFE that greatly impaired the possibility to enjoy it at the maximum extent.
Such problems derived by the fact that my regional settings are "Italian" and not "US English".
I tried modifying them but this does not guarranteed a good functioning of PFE.
After some trials I discovered the following:
1) If you keep your regional settings PFE automatically changes the comma/dot to fit its needs;
2) when it exits it re-set them to the default value.

and also that
1) If you have "US English" settings PFE does not changes them at start but changes them in your old regional settings when it exits. I do not know if it is due to the settings you had during original installation or to windows default...

This means that, after the first execution you may have problems even in "US English" settings, since you will not have the same regional settings of the program in which the flightplan was prepared/Flight Simulator...

For these above mentioned reasons I suggest to follow the following procedure each time you want to prepare a flightplan and fly:
1) very first step: re-set your regional settings as your default;
2) start PFE. It will adjust them as its needs;
3) start all other programs you need for your flight. In this wal all them will share the same regional settings (e.g. ASE, Flightkeeper, FSC). This is really important for programs that control the weather in FS and for programs to prepare flightplans);
4) Make your fligthplan with the program of your choice and process it in PFE/FP2000;
5) Start FS and flight;
6) close all the programs you opened at the end of the flight;
7) close PFE at the end (this will re-set your regional settings)...

For me this procedure worked. You can try if you need to use it by checking your regional settings after launched PFE and after exited. If the dot/comma are invertedthe procedure above should solve your problems!!!

Hope this helps,

Stefano C
